Motorola Edge S launches as the first Snapdragon 870 phone

Motorola has unveiled a new phone named Edge S that comes powered by the recently revealed Snapdragon 870 SoC. It is a 5G capable phone. Some of its other highlights include a 90Hz screen, dual front cameras, heart rate sensor, Android 11, triple rear cameras, and a 5000mAh.

Motorola Edge S Specs

Motorola has presented on the front a 6.7-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 560 nits brightness, DCI-P3 color gamut, and HDR10. Within the dual punch holes, you get a 16MP main camera and an 8MP 100° ultra-wide snapper.

By the back, there are three cameras comprising a 64MP primary shooter, a 16MP 121° ultra-wide camera (w/ 2.8cm macro capability), a 2MP depth sensor, and a ToF module.

Within the chassis resides a Snapdragon 870 chipset accompanied by up to 8GB LPPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage (up to 1TB SD card expansion), and a 5000mAh battery. The phone supports 20W power brick.

Other features it brings include dual-mode 5G, a built-in heart rate sensor, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, IP52 water resistance, USB-C, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, and NFC.

Motorola Edge S Price and Availability

Motorola Edge S is available in white and emerald blue paints. It is priced as follows:

  • 6+128GB: 1999 yuan (~₹22,535)
  • 8+ 128GB: 2399 yuan (~₹27,045)
  • 9+256GB: 2799 yuan (~₹31,552)

It is currently released in China. Details on global availability is yet to be known.
