LG K8 2018 and K10 2018 Camera-Centric Phones Announced: Price and Specifications

The South Korean firm, LG announced 2018 version of K-series phones, K8 and K10 ahead of the Mobile World Congress (2018). Priced in the mid-range segment, both smartphones are aimed to “close the gap” between mass-tier devices and high-end flagship phones for LG.

The major highlight of both the phones is their cameras. LG has added a slew of specification on cameras of both K10 and K8 like high-speed autofocus, noise reduction, and Flash Jump Shot, which the firm says will snap a photo every three seconds and stitch them together into a GIF for easy sharing.

LG K10 2018 Features

The LG K10 2018 is K-series premium model. The handset is powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz processor under the metal unibody design, and sport a 5.3-inch HD  (720×1080 pixels) In-Cell display. The smartphone is sub-categorized in three variants, K10, K10+ and K10α based on the memory and camera setup.

The K10 will come with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, while K10+ will have 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Both the phones will feature a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The K10α, on the other hand, will be launched with 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM, an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

The front camera sensor of the K10 (2018) family also supports Bokeh Mode, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) that is touted to be 23 percent faster than a traditional autofocus system. The fingerprint sensor on the rear functions as a Quick Shutter and Quick Capture in K10-series to let users easily capture their photos or screenshots directly using their fingers.

All the three LG K10 models will run on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, and support connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, FM radio, and Micro-USB.

LG K8 Features

The LG K8, on the other hand, features a 5-inch HD display and 1.3GHz Quad-core SoC, under the hood. The device employs 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. The handset packs a 2,500mAh battery and weighs 152grams.

For photography, it sports 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. There are also new camera UX features such as Auto Shot, Gesture Shot, Flash for Selfie, and Quick Share.

In terms of connectivity, the LG K8 2018 include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, and Micro-USB.

LG K8 and K10 Price and Availability

The LG K8 2018 and the LG K10 2018 family will sale in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue and Terra Gold colors. The handset will roll out globally in key regions such as Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Price and availability of the smartphones will be announced later.

Both the phones will be showcased at LG’s booth in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via from February 26 until March 1.

“LG’s 2018 K Series range of smartphones is focused on delivering even more value to consumers looking for the right device that fits their lifestyle and needs,” said Ha Jeung-uk, senior-VP and business unit leader for LG Electronics.
