Leaks Suggest Nokia Is Working on An 18.4-inch, Snapdragon 835 Powered Tablet

HMD Global, the Finnish company that currently markets smartphones and devices under the Nokia brand name, seems to be on a roll this year. Having received rave reviews regarding the Chinese variant of its Nokia 6 smartphone, the company is reportedly planning to unveil the high-end Nokia P1 and Nokia 8 smartphones at the MWC next month.

If a recent GFXBench listing is anything to go by, the two phones are set to be joined by a yet to be named Nokia tablet whose specifications the said listing gave away.

According to the leak, the tablet is set to feature a mammoth 18.4-inch QHD display and is expected to rival Samsung’s Galaxy View tablet, that sported a similar display.

By the looks of it, the tablet is going to be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset which would be supported by an Adreno 540 GPU along with 4 gigs of RAM.

Although the listing depicts the inbuilt storage capacity of the device to be 52GB, that is probably the storage left after the installation of the OS, with the actual storage being 64GB.

Touted to be running on the latest Android Nougat 7.0 along with Android FIH edition on top, the device will reportedly feature 12MP cameras capable of UltraHD (4K) video recording both on the front as well as the back.

The tablet is drawing ire of some mobile enthusiasts who question the company’s decision to launch such a device at such an early stage, considering the fact that it is still in a early stage of its revival.

It would be interesting to see what marketing strategies the company adopts for the device if it does, in fact, come out at the MWC Barcelona next month.
