TL; DR
  • Apple lists the repair of the iPhone Duo’s inner display in India at ₹ 1,49,900.
  • AppleCare+ costs ₹51,900 and cuts that repair fee to ₹8,900.
  • Pre-orders reportedly open October 16, 2026; the phone starts at ₹2,99,900.

There’s been plenty of excitement around Apple’s first foldable, but as an Apple user myself who had my iPhone 13’s rear glass repaired back in the day, I kept thinking about the bill that could follow a bad drop. Roughly a month after the September 2026 grand unveiling, Apple has published repair costs in India.

I’d say the figures deserve a hard look before you pre-order.

A Cracked Inner Screen Costs ₹1,49,900 To Fix

For all those who want to own Apple’s iPhone Duo, the Indian support page lists ₹1,49,900 for inner display damage. That’s about half the asking price of ₹2,99,900, and barely ₹15,000 short of the iPhone 18 Pro’s (review) starting price. I don’t know about you, but I find that number quite alarming.

An “other damage” category, which remains largely undefined, is listed at ₹2,24,900. This is 75% of a new phone’s price. Even the outer screen costs ₹42,900, which is the price of a full-fledged mid-ranger. If the outer screen and back glass fail together, Apple quotes ₹55,900. After the one-year warranty, a battery service alone costs ₹24,900.

AppleCare+ Softens The Blow, But A Rival Is Far Cheaper To Fix

AppleCare+ costs ₹51,900 for the iPhone Duo and covers eligible accidental damage, such as drops and spills. However, you’d still have to pay a service fee per incident. As usual, AppleCare+ in India doesn’t cover theft or loss.

If you have the plan (i.e., if you pay a total of ₹3.5 lakh at purchase), one inner-screen repair under cover costs ₹60,800, including the plan, versus ₹1,49,900 without it. The plan pays off only after a serious accident or repeated mishaps. What makes this even more concerning is that Samsung’s spare-part list for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 puts the foldable screen replacement at ₹54,130.

Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo open on October 16, 2026, while sales commence on October 23, 2026. Before you place a pre-order, note that the phone, AppleCare+, and the official first-party case will cost ₹3,60,700. I don’t know about you, but I’d think twice about my use case or consider the competition before investing so much in a smartphone.
