A lot is happening at Apple’s Cupertino headquarters. Earlier this month, the company released Vision Pro, the first virtual reality headset of its kind, with exceptional spatial computing capabilities. Recently, we also heard about foldable flip-style iPhones that the company is working on. And now, a tipster has predicted the battery capacity of the upcoming iPhones.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max Could Get A Larger Battery Cell

Tipster Majin Bu has shared the battery specification of the iPhone 16 series on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Based on his tweet, the vanilla iPhone 16 will come with a 3,561 mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the 3,349 mAh battery on the entry-level iPhone 15.

Further, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could ship with a 4,676 mAh battery, an upgrade over the 4,422 mAh battery on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Although the percentage of improvement is in the single digits, it could translate to several minutes, perhaps even an hour, of extra battery life on the respected models. This speculation is based on the expected improvement in A18 Pro’s energy efficiency.

Along with the larger battery capacity, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could also ditch the L-shaped battery on its predecessor for a rectangular cell due to internal restructuring.

iPhone 16 Plus Could Get A Smaller Battery Than Its Predecessor

While the tipster doesn’t mention anything about the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 16 Plus might see a downgrade in terms of battery life. The said model could come with a 4,006 mAh battery cell, which is smaller than the 4,383 mAh battery cell on the iPhone 15 Plus. This could be an attempt to place the iPhone 16 Pro Max as the longest-lasting model in the lineup.

iPhone 15 Rated Battery Life

Let’s recap the rated battery life for the current iPhone 15 lineup. The regular iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus are rated to last for up to 20 and 26 hours of video playback, respectively. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are rated for 23 and 29 hours, respectively. Hence, an upgrade in the battery capacity could further extend this duration, implying that the iPhone 16 series could provide the longest battery life on an iPhone ever.
