Google is rolling out Wear OS 7, its wearable operating system, for its Pixel Watch lineup. It announced the update alongside Android 17 on June 16, 2026. It comes after Google showcased some features during The Android Show and the Google I/O 2026. There’s plenty of ground to cover, so, without any further ado, let’s get started.

What’s New In Wear OS 7?
The headline addition is Wear Widgets. It’s a proper widget system that replaces the dated Tiles architecture on Wear OS, designed to be more interactive and flexible.
Live Updates is another notable change. It can now surface real-time app data, such as delivery tracking, cab status, or navigation progress, directly on your wrist, letting you to follow time-sensitive information without opening an app or taking out your phone.
Wear OS 7 also improves media handling, with a new remote audio output switcher and per-app media auto-launch controls. Moreover, the watch responds more predictably when switching between headphones or speakers connected to the paired phone.

Google also claims to improve the overall battery life by up to 10%, all via software optimization, which also deserves a mention.
Unfortunately, Google hasn’t rolled out Gemini Intelligence as part of the stable Wear OS 7 version, or Android 17 for that matter. While the AI layer is confirmed to arrive later this year to select smartphones and smartwatches, the company hasn’t confirmed the device eligibility yet.
Which Pixel Watches Will Get Access To Wear OS 7?
The Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4 are confirmed to receive Wear OS 7.

The update, carrying the June 2026 Android security patch, is currently rolling to the compatible models. For now, third-party OEMs haven’t confirmed Wear OS 7 availability.

Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch, could arrive on the supported models after the second Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, which is usually when Samsung phones get the latest Android version.
