Sharing files between smartphones has often felt like a clinical exercise in menus and toggles. vivo is looking to change that narrative with its latest flagship-exclusive feature: Shake & Share.

Designed to make proximity sharing more intuitive and dare we say, fun, the feature moves away from the traditional “tap and wait” search method in favor of a more physical interaction.

A New Way to Connect

The premise is refreshingly tactile. Instead of digging through Bluetooth settings or waiting for a radar to spin, users simply shake their device to initiate a search. When nearby users also shake their phones, the devices recognize the synchronized motion and populate a list of available connections.

From there, users can instantly form a sharing group, allowing for seamless multi-user file distribution without the need for individual pairing requests.

Integration with Origin Island

The feature integrates directly with vivo’s Origin Island interface. Once a group is established, sharing is as simple as dragging photos, documents, or videos directly into the dynamic “Island” at the top of the screen. For those who prefer a more traditional route, direct selection from the file manager remains an option, ensuring the feature feels like a natural extension of the OS rather than a gimmick.

Limited Launch for Flagships

As of today, Shake & Share is rolling out as an exclusive perk for vivo’s premium lineup, specifically the X300 Ultra and the X300 FE. That said, both X300 Ultra and X300 FE users can also tranfer these files to iPhone 17 users as well by including them in a sharing group.

While it remains a high-end feature for now, it represents a significant push by vivo to make its software ecosystem feel more interactive and socially connected.
