For years, many Apple products were tipped but never saw the light of the day. Apple has been collecting hundreds of patents for such products over the years and it seems like some of them might be in the pipeline. The latest report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman sheds light on some of the products that might or might not be in the developing stage. It includes a smart ring, an AirPods with a camera, and AR smart glasses.

Apple exploring something big in the wearable space

According to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, the Apple Ring, an alternative to the upcoming Samsung Ring and Oura Ring, is potentially in the pipeline. It is a health and fitness wearable device akin to a smartwatch that will collect your fitness-related data and patch it up with the paired iPhone. It’ll help you monitor your health stats without worrying about a dying battery and plugging it up with a power source now and then. It has been in the making for a few years, however, its release is still unknown.

Another product that Apple might be working on in the long run is the pair of smart glasses. Okay, I know that you might have already heard about it and how the Cupertino-based giant potentially scrapped the project, but it is still in the pipeline.

The newsletter mentions we could get AR-powered smart glasses in a few years that will compete against Amazon Echo Frames and Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart. These specs will have functionalities to play music (potentially replacing the AirPods), record video, and beyond.

The $3,500 Apple Vision Pro has already taken the world by storm. With that, these smart glasses could offer potential buyers an avenue to get the latest tech without spending a fortune as these specs might introduce AI features, more sensors, larger batteries, etc. Apple is also working on an affordable version of Apple Vision Pro that could arrive next year and I think these smart glasses might follow the suit.

Another project in the works behind closed doors is the AirPods with cameras. Yep, Apple is supposedly exploring the idea of integrating AirPods with cameras, health sensors, and advanced AI in the mix. The report mentions how none of the aforementioned projects might fly (at least this year), it is a sight to behold what Apple is exploring in the wearable space.
