Apple is officially rolling out its Apple Intelligence features to a wider global audience including the Indian market. This means users in India can now tap into these tools, and notably, the system now understands the nuances of localized English for India.

Beyond English, Apple Intelligence is also getting fluent in French, German, Italian, Portuguese (specifically the Brazilian dialect), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. These new features come bundled with the latest software updates: iOS 18.4 for the iPhone, iPadOS 18.4 for the iPad, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 for the Mac.

What’s Included in Apple Intelligence Update

Writing Tools

Writing Tools is Apple’s take on an AI writer. This tool can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text in apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, and third-party apps. Like a writer, it has personalities and can deliver the text in a professional, concise, or friendly tone.

The Photos App also gets Clean Up tool, Apple’s take on object eraser and a Memories feature that creates short movies based on text inputs.

Image Playground

Image Playground lets users create images using text prompts and combine concepts like themes, costumes, accessories, and even locations. It integrates into Messages, Freeform, Keynote, and other apps, and exists as a standalone app with Animation, Illustration, and Sketch styles.

Image Wand

Image Wand is a tool that converts rough sketches into polished images or generates visuals from text. It works in tandem with other tools and can offer Animation, Illustrations, and Sketches.

ChatGPT Integration

ChatGPT integration allows Siri and Writing Tools to deliver results for complex queries or help in content creation, like writing or image generation. Users opt in, and no account is required unlike using the regular ChatGPT— thankfully OpenAI doesn’t store requests or track IPs.

Siri Enhancements

Siri now has a distinct UI with a glowing edge design on iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay and can be used anywhere on Mac desktops. Users can type or speak to Siri, and it handles speech patterns effectively. Siri also maintains context across requests, and answers thousands of questions about Apple product features, like screen recording or Wi-Fi sharing.

Privacy at the Core

Apple Intelligence prioritizes user privacy with on-device processing. For complex tasks, it uses Private Cloud Compute on Apple silicon servers, ensuring data isn’t retained or exposed. Unique in the industry, experts can inspect the server code, offering verifiable privacy and trustworthy intelligence.
