TL;DR
  • Apple might soon integrate Apple Intelligence with Google Gemini.
  • The rumors have sparked after a backend code was spotted in third-party models in iOS 18.4 Beta Version.
  • Other than Google Gemini, Apple AI works with Siri 2.0 and ChatGPT.

Apple has been gradually incorporating Artificial Intelligence into its offerings, in contrast to its competitors who have been making swift advancements. Over the past year, Apple AI has slowly introduced new functionalities, with the highly anticipated Siri 2.0 update facing delays. As the anticipation for next-generation AI features from Apple persists, the company has announced plans to integrate both ChatGPT and Google Gemini into its AI framework. Approximately a year ago, Craig Federighi suggested the potential integration of various AI models, indicating that Gemini AI could follow the ChatGPT integration for Siri 2.0.

Apple has recently launched the iOS 18.4 Beta, which introduces several features related to Apple AI. Additionally, backend code has been discovered in Third Party Models, including those from Google and OpenAI. This has sparked speculation regarding the potential integration of Gemini with Apple Intelligence.

A report from 9to5 Mac indicates that the iOS 18.4 Beta Version contains backend code referencing both Google and OpenAI, suggesting potential integration of Gemini AI into Apple’s ecosystem. This development would enable users to select their preferred AI model for particular tasks. While it does not guarantee that Gemini will be included in iOS 18.4, it does suggest ongoing efforts, and we may see a preview of it on compatible iPhones soon.

Gemini may provide enhanced personalization; however, it also raises questions regarding the distinctiveness of AI functionalities and their potential contribution to Apple’s services. The specifics of its integration and role will be clarified in the near future.
