TL; DR
  • Samsung globally launches new smart refrigerators lineup with AI.
  • These fridges get new screens, with Enhanced AI Vision.
  • Fridges act as smart home hubs, and entertainment centers.

Following through on their “Screens Everywhere” concept shown at CES 2025, Samsung Electronics has officially kicked off the global rollout of its latest smart refrigerator lineup. The tech giant is betting big on the kitchen hub, integrating new AI features and screen options across various models, aiming to make refrigerators smarter, and more connected.

The unit leading the charge is the all new 9-inch “AI Home” screen, now available on select 4-Door, 4-Door French Door, and Side-by-Side refrigerator models. Larger Family Hub screens (21.5-inch or 32-inch) are also being used on specific French Door and Side-by-Side refrigerators from the company.

“We’re expanding choices to meet diverse household requirements,” noted Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D for Samsung’s Digital Appliances Business, highlighting the goal of offering flexibility alongside advanced AI experiences.

Enhanced AI Food Recognition

A key upgrade with the whole connected theme is the enhanced “AI Vision Inside” feature. Available on select 4-Door models, this internal camera system can now recognize 37 different types of fresh food items, a big jump from the previous unit. It also learns to identify frequently stored processed foods, allowing users to save up to 50 items with custom names. This improved food recognition powers smarter recipe recommendations and meal planning directly from the fridge screen.

Smart Home Hub Integration

Beyond food management, these refrigerators also take on the role of smart home command centers. The new screens integrate “Map View,” allowing users to monitor and control compatible Samsung and even third-party smart devices like lights and plugs. Voice control via Bixby remains a central interaction method.

Family communication gets a boost with the “Daily Board,” displaying useful info like weather and schedules. Bixby can now recognize individual family members’ voices for personalized responses. A shared photo gallery and calendar aim to keep households connected.

Entertainment isn’t left out either. Spotify integration allows for music and podcast streaming directly from the fridge, while SmartView Mirroring lets users cast content from their smartphones or Samsung TVs onto the refrigerator’s screen.

Pricing & Availability

Samsung has shown intent to bring these updated refrigerators to the Indian market later this year. Pricing remains a mystery but you should expect to pay a premium for these models over the regular units.
