Xiaomi's most popular Redmi series has two new additions: the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. both these phones are in-line with the latest trends and their aggressive pricing ensures they set's the eyeballs rolling. Tallest amongst these two is the Redmi 5 Plus (as the name implies). The phone comes with a large 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 1080×2160 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It gets a 2.5D curved glass which sits on top of the screen to protect it from minor scratches. The Redmi 4 successors got some trendy looks thanks to its revamped design language and metallic build with rounded corners. The Plus version of Redmi 5 houses a 14nm FinFET technology based octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The chipset is aided by an Adreno 506 GPU that takes care of all graphics. The phone is made available in with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage while top variant comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. For shutterbug, the Redmi 5 comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera with 1.25-micron pixels whereas up front it packs a 5-megapixel selfie camera with Beautify 3.0 features. The phone will draw juice from a 3300mAh battery, which as per the company will last for 12 days of standby mode.
