Xiaomi has launched Redmi 5, the successor of last year's Redmi 4, in India. The new phone from Chinese smartphone firm packs decent specs at a pocket-friendly price.
Talking about Redmi 5 specifications, it boasts a 5.7-inch HD+ display with 18:9 screen aspect ratio and visibly thin bezels. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset which is based on the 14nm manufacturing process. The chipset is paired with three RAM and ROM options: starting with 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, followed by 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, respectively.
For shutterbugs, the Redmi 5 sports a 120megapixel sensor on the rear with 1.25nm pixel size and a 5-megapixel sensor on the front for selfie. Both cameras are backed by LED flash to capture details even in low light.
The Redmi 5 runs on Android Nougat-based MIUI 9 OS out of the box and houses a decent 3300mAh capacity battery. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the rear panel. In terms of connectivity, the phone includes hybrid SIM slot, 4G, VoLTE, ViLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, IR blaster, and GPS.
