More of a comeback bid than a new flagship phone, the Alcatel Idol 4 very closely resembles the Blackberry DTEK50 barring its software and rear panel. The Idol 4 comes packed in a box alongside JBL headphones which also double up as a VR headset.
Coming to the specifications, the phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor that is aided by an Adreno 405 GPU coupled with 3GB RAM. The Idol 4 provides an in-built storage space of 16GB which can be expanded to a maximum of 512GB via a microSD card.
For photography, the phone has a 13MP camera on the back with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, along with an 8MP camera on the front having a wide-angle lens. The camera app in the phone also has a real time beautification feature - something that may attract young users.
Prima facie, the standout feature in then Alcatel Idol 4 is the dual speaker setup at the front. The speakers, located at the top and bottom of the phone, can output 7.4 watts and are embellished with Wave MaxxAudio technology. Some have even found the sound system to be as good as many high-end smartphones.
The Alcatel Idol 4 is available in three colors - Gold, Metal Silver and Dark Grey and is available exclusively as the E-commerce site, Flipkart. The phone is already out in the market and the Alcatel Idol 4 best price in India is 16,999 INR.
