Xiaomi ventures into Bangladesh: Redmi S2, Redmi 5, and Redmi Note 5 now on sale in the country

Within a few years of its entry into India, the Chinese mobile maker Xiaomi has pushed for its launch in Bangladesh, owing to the popularity of its budget-friendly smartphones in the country.

The company, on Tuesday, officially began its operations in Bangladesh with Redmi S2 ( Redmi Y2 in India) launch in the country. The announcement was made yesterday on the sidelines of Mi Community launch, an online platform where Xiaomi enthusiasts can discuss about the phone.

Besides this, the Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 are now officially available for sale in Bangladesh. Although an announcement regarding the same was not made during the launch event.

Xiaomi has exclusively authorized Daraz.com.bd, its online retail partner in the country for the first two-week distribution of Redmi 5 and Redmi 5, July 26 onwards. After the two week period, the phone will be available through Xiaomi Bangladesh’s offline partner stores.

Over the last few years, the Bangladesh smartphone market has witnessed tremendous growth, double digits at times and we look forward to extending our share to the local industry. With the love of our millions of Mi Fans here, we hope to build a beautiful story of Xiaomi in the market…We hope that with the official entry into this market, we will be able to bring all latest products to Bangladesh at an honest pricing for all our Mi Fans. We promise to deliver on an accentuated service experience and look forward to building a robust local team here,” Manu Jain, Vice President and Managing Director, Xiaomi India was quoted saying.

Redmi S2, Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 (Bangladesh) Price:

Redmi S2 will be available in Bangladesh at BDT 14,999 (Rs. 12,200 approx) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage model and BDT 17,999 (roughly Rs. 14,600) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.

The Redmi 5 will be available in Bangladesh for BDT 13,990 (Rs. 11,400 approx). Whereas the Redmi Note 5, which is a slightly modified Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro, will be available for BDT 20,990 (Rs. 17,000 approx) in Bangladesh.
