Xiaomi Selects March 20th For Redmi 4A’s Indian Unveiling

After making waves in China (where it came out in November), Xiaomi’s newest budget offering, the Redmi 4A, is reportedly set to hit Indian shores as early as next week after the company handed out press invites for an event expected to be held exclusively for the cause.

The Chinese company has settled on March 20^th as the date for the official launch of the phone, which is also being dubbed as its most affordable one (as of yet) in the country.

The Redmi 4A flaunts a unibody design with a matte metal finish and comes running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, which is supported by the company’s trademark MIUI (v8 version in this case) skin on the top.

Having a 5-inch HD IPS display safeguarded by a 2.5D , the phone has a quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor backing it up, which has four Cortex-A53 cores working together with a maximum frequency limit of 1.4GHz.

The SoC is supported by an Adreno 308 GPU and a 2GB RAM while for the storage bit, a 16GB in-built storage has been allotted to the phone (which you can prolong till a maximum of 128GB).

The phone houses a hybrid SIM slot though, and packs in a 3,120mAh power unit to keep things going.

Unlike its bigger version, the Redmi 4, the phone lacks a dual camera setup at the back and makes do with a single one instead. The 13MP camera comes toting features that include an f/2.2 aperture, 1080p recording and LED flash.

For selfies, there is a 5MP one that has the exact same aperture.

For the pricing bit, Xiaomi has seems to have gone pretty lenient and the Redmi 4A could come out costing around Rs. 5,000 (and maybe even lesser, considering the ‘most affordable’ tag).
