Xiaomi Introduces A New, Affordable Redmi 3 ‘s’ Variant

It has been literally raining smartphone in this hot and humid season. Xiaomi has already launched a few blockbuster devices in the first half of 2016 and is now out with another interesting smartphone – the Redmi 3s. The ‘s’ variant of Redmi 3 is launched in China and is expected to go on sale on June 16.

This new mid-ranger offers some decent specification under the hood. It hoists a 5-inch 720p IPS display. The phone is packed with a quad-core Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. It comes in two variants:  2Gigs of RAM with 32GB of onboard storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage. Selfie lover gets a 5-inch front facing camera, while photography enthusiasts can enjoy 13-megapixel rear-camera with LED flash and phase detection auto-focus (PDAF).

Like Xiaomi Redmi 3, it too flaunts a full magnesium alloy made exterior body which is 8.5mm thick and weighs 144 grams in total. The phone has curved edges as evident from the pictures. It comes with hybrid SIM slot where second SIM can be swapped with a microSD card for storage expansion.  The dual SIM phone  is backed by a 4100mAh battery and runs on custom MIUI 7 Android based software.

Xiaomi Redmi 3s is priced at 699 yuan (Rs. 7199 approx.) for the 2GB RAM /16GB storage version and the 3GB RAM/32GB variant is priced at 899 yuan (Rs. 9165 approx.). Xiaomi will roll it out in Dark Gray, Silver and Gold color options.  However, there is no official word on Redmi 3s availability in India.
