Update: Xiaomi Mi A1 is finally getting Oreo update and fast charging is now supported. The inbox charger that comes bundled with the phone supports fast charging on the phone as well. You won’t have to buy a new fast charger to avail the new addition.

One of the Xiaomi’s most popular phones in India, the Android One based Mi A1, will soon get fast charging support along with the Android Oreo update.

Apart from fast charging, Android Oreo on Mi A1 will reportedly make fingerprint sensor faster, reduce app opening time, add picture-in-picture mode, Autofill, adaptive icons, and more.

How to get fast charging on Xiaomi Mi A1?

Xiaomi recently started rolling out an update to select group of features. The update is currently available to select beta testers and will soon be rolled out to all users.

The Snapdragon 625 octa-core mobile platform supports fast charging but the company has refrained from adding Quick Charge support, presumably to avoid added licensing cost. And since Xiaomi hasn’t released Kernel sources for the device, developers didn’t have the option to manually make changes.

It’s still not clear if the stock Mi A1 charger that comes bundled in the box will support fast charging or not. Mi A1 users might have to invest in a separate Quick Charge compatible adapter to avail the same.

Xiaomi Mi A1 is one of the best available affordable phones that now retails for Rs. 13,999. The handset has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 64GB storage, 4GB RAM, and hybrid dual SIM support. Other features include dual 12MP rear cameras, 5MP selfie camera, 3000mAh battery, 4G VoLTE and a rear fingerprint sensor.
