Xiaomi is going to be one of the first OEMs to use upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 on one of its smartphones. Actually, two of them. According to sources, the firm has already laid the foundation for the latest chipset and codenamed the upcoming phones as “Comet” and “Sirius”.
It was a tweet from the editor-in-chief at XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahman, which confirmed that Xiaomi is working on two Smartphones which will ship with the Snapdragon 670 SoC under their hood. Unfortunately, there is no other information about the two devices as of now.
But tech pundits say that the forthcoming Xiaomi device could be Xiaomi Mi Note 4 – the successor to the Mi Note 3 and Mi Max 3 – successor of Mi Max 2. Since Xiaomi is known for using the latest chipsets on its devices, it is very much believable that the aforementioned codenamed devices are likely to be early adopters of the SD 670.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 Features (Expected)
The Snapdragon 670 is going to be the new mid-range chipset from Qualcomm, succeeding SD 660. Most of the specifications of the chipset were leaked on the internet giving us a fair idea of what it could bring to the table.
The chipset will be built on the 10nm process, same as the flagship Snapdragon 845, although the architecture is going to be big.LITTLE. It is going to be octa-core processor with 2 being the Kryo 300 Gold cores for higher performance while the rest are Kryo 300 Silver to handle day-to-day activities.
Other alleged features of Snapdragon 670 include Adreno 615 GPU, an advanced ISP with dual-camera support, and an SD X20 modem. Qualcomm could soon announce the chipset in the coming weeks.
