TL;DR

  • Honda has recalled over 90,000 units of vehicles from India.
  • The recall campaign will begin on November 5, 2024, wherein dealerships will contact the owners of the affected vehicles.
  • There’s an issue with the fuel impeller on the affected cars, which can hinder the normal functioning of the engine.

The Japanese automaker Honda has issued a recall of over 90,000 units across India. This includes several models, including Amaze, City, Jazz, BR-V, WR-V, and Brio. Apparently, these vehicles have an issue with their fuel impellers, which, in the long term, might lead to the malfunctioning of the engine.

What Is Wrong With Over 90,000 Honda Cars?

The issue lies in the fuel impeller, which controls the flow and pressure of the petrol between the fuel tank and the engine. When the impeller rotates, its blades create a swirling motion in the fuel, which, in turn, moves it in the right direction. If the impeller fails to perform normally, there could be a shortage of fuel in the engine.

The affected cars with a malfunctioning impeller were made between 2017 and 2018. Given that the dealership already has ownership of the cars, they’ll start reaching out to the owners from November 5, 2024, after tackling the rise in demand, bookings, and deliveries scheduled for or around the Indian festival of Diwali.

Owners Who Are Facing A Noticeable Problem Can Contact Honda Dealerships

The replacement of the said part will be carried out in a phased manner. However, owners facing a problem in starting or revving their engines could contact dealerships for the required solution before their turn as well. If the issue is due to a faulty impeller, they should get a replacement free of cost, like the other vehicles that are a part of the recall campaign.

In addition to the 90,468 units manufactured in the said range, Honda is also recalling about 2,200 units of older models of vehicles, like Accord, Amaze, Brio, BR-V, City, Civic, and Jazz, regarding the replacement of spare parts (if required). Meanwhile, those who’ve already purchased a new fuel pump assembly can also contact their nearest dealership to check whether their vehicle was affected by the manufacturing issue.
