“Due to the complexity of the architecture, WhatsApp is in discussions with the State Bank of India, NPCI and few other banks to devise ways to integrate their systems with the bank and with NPCI,” a senior SBI official told the publication.

UPI adoption is rapidly increasing in India. Several major wallets and apps have already integrated or are in the process of integrating UPI payments, but a money transfer privilege being added to a ubiquitous platform like WhatsApp should be a big push for the digital economy.

That’s not all, WhatsApp is also testing another exciting feature. Reportedly, it will soon allow users to transfer all types of files through the chat window! There is a limit though. You will be able to transfer up to 100MB file on Android, 128MB one on iOS and 64MB on WhatsApp web.
