PhonePe app has now launched a new feature that would allow users to activate UPI using authentication based on Aadhaar number. With this upgrade, the Aadhaar number will be integrated into the PhonePe App’s e-KYC process to initiate the UPI registration. Previously, the Flipkart-backed UPI platform required users’ debit cards to activate the PhonePe UPI in the app.

UPI has gradually become one of the leading methods for digital payment in India and among different UPI apps, PhonePe is undoubtedly the market leader. According to National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) data, PhonePe UPI enjoys the majority of market share on the basis of customer transactions count as well as value.
