vivo has officially revealed the main camera sensor for the upcoming vivo X300 Ultra, ahead of the phone’s expected launch later this month in China. The company confirmed that the device will use the 200 MP Sony LYT-901 sensor, which measures 1/1.12-inch.
The company also shared a size comparison image showing the LYT-901 next to the previous generation setup (LYT-828), highlighting the increase in physical size. This configuration is the largest 35 mm main camera ever used on a smartphone.
The lens is tuned to a 35 mm equivalent focal length, which sits between traditional smartphone wide and telephoto perspectives. Stabilization on the main camera is rated at CIPA 6.5, an increase over the CIPA 5.0 rating used on the X200 Ultra.
The optical stack uses a 1P + 6P lens structure, consisting of one glass element and six plastic elements. The lens assembly includes coatings such as 1G ALD PRO, ultra-low reflectivity layers, 6P ALE+, and ALM, which should reduce ghosting and flare by around 30%. Aperture specifications have not been fully confirmed, though early information suggests f/1.85 or f/2.0.

200MP HP0 Periscope Telephoto
Alongside the main camera, the X300 Ultra also includes a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera using a customized Samsung ISOCELL HP0 sensor.
This telephoto camera uses an 85 mm equivalent focal length, corresponding to roughly 3.5X optical zoom. The module incorporates micro-gimbal optical stabilization with a 3° correction angle, which is 2.5X wider than previous implementations. The stabilization system is rated at CIPA 7.0, which is higher than the main camera’s rating, and the highest on any smartphone.
The periscope camera carries ZEISS APO certification and includes a high-speed autofocus engine designed for high-resolution video and motion capture. Earlier footage from MWC also suggested an aperture in the f/2.55 to f/2.67 range, although final specifications have not yet been confirmed.

External Teleconverter and Camera Rig
The X300 Ultra camera system also supports external accessories shown at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. One of them is a large ZEISS telephoto extender, which increases the focal length to around 400 mm equivalent when attached to the telephoto lens.
The extender produces roughly 17.3X optical zoom, with sensor cropping extending the range further toward 800 mm equivalent. Reports also suggest another teleconverter option around 200 mm equivalent focal length.
vivo also showed a dedicated camera rig accessory, which includes a hand grip, snap-on cooling fan, and cold shoe mounts for attaching lights or microphones.

Other Cameras
Beyond the main and telephoto sensors, the phone is expected to include a 50 MP ultrawide camera using the Sony LYT-828 sensor measuring 1/1.28-inch, paired with a 13-14 mm equivalent focal length.
Additional components include a 5 MP multispectral color sensor, along with laser autofocus and multi-directional PDAF.
Core Specifications
Outside the camera hardware, the X300 Ultra includes a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display with 1440p resolution. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16 GB RAM and up to 1 TB storage.
Battery capacity is said to be 7,000 mAh, with 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. The phone will run on Android 16 with OriginOS 6.
Launch Timeline
The vivo X300 Ultra is expected to debut in China later this month. Since the device has already been showcased publicly at MWC 2026, a wider release appears likely afterward, with global availability expected around April or May, including potential launches in India and other international markets.
