TL; DR
  • vivo showed the X300 Ultra at MWC 2026 with a huge detachable teleconverter system that can reach around 400 mm equivalent zoom.
  • The phone also carries a 200 MP main camera, large sensors across the system, and ZEISS optics.
  • Core specs include a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16 GB RAM, and a 7,000 mAh battery.

The vivo X300 Ultra made an early appearance at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, and the biggest attention grabber is easily the camera hardware attached to the back of the phone. The device uses a huge circular camera module, and in demos it is paired with an external teleconverter that is unusually large for a smartphone accessory.

Hands-on footage shared by YouTube reviewer Ben’s Gadget Reviews shows the lens mounted over the camera system. The attachment is physically large and extends far beyond the camera bump, giving the phone a look closer to a compact camera than a typical smartphone.

Once attached, the teleconverter pushes the focal length to 400 mm equivalent, which translates to about 17.3X optical zoom. Sensor cropping can extend that further toward around 800 mm equivalent while keeping usable quality. Earlier rumors also mentioned another attachment around 200 mm, suggesting vivo may offer more than one teleconverter option.

This is not the first time vivo has experimented with add-on optics. The company has released teleconverter systems before, and this new setup appears to be the most powerful version yet.

A Video Camera Rig?

Alongside the lens, vivo also showed a new camera rig accessory. The rig includes a snap-on cooling fan, a side handle grip, and a cold shoe mount for lights or microphones. The idea is to turn the phone into a more capable handheld camera setup, especially for video recording.

Beyond the external optics, the phone itself carries a very serious camera system. The main camera is expected to use a 200 MP Sony LYT-901 sensor measuring around 1/1.12-inch. The telephoto lens remains around 85 mm equivalent, paired with the 200 MP HPB sensor at 1/1.4-inch.

The ultra-wide camera is expected to use a large 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 13 mm focal length, and the front camera is expected to be 50 MP. The system includes ZEISS optics, laser autofocus, a 5 MP color spectrum sensor, and multi-directional PDAF.

To sum it up:

  • 200 MP Sony LYT-901 1/1.12-inch main sensor at 35mm
  • 200 MP Samsung HPB 1/1.4-inch telephoto at 85mm
  • 50 MP Sony LYT-828 1/1.28-inch ultra-wide at 13mm
  • 50 MP selfie camera
  • 5 MP color spectrum sensor
  • 200 mm + 400 mm teleconverter
  • Video Camera Rig

Outside the camera hardware, the rest of the phone reads like a classic flagship specification sheet. The device features a 6.82-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1440 x 3168 resolution. Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 built on a 3 nm process.

The software is expected to be Android 16 with OriginOS 6, and international models will also ship with the same. Battery capacity is expected to be 7,000 mAh, paired with 100W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
