TL; DR
  • vivo has officially restored Horizon Level Stabilization (Horizon Lock) to the X300 Ultra’s video mode.
  • The feature was last seen on the X90 Pro and older X-series flagships before being removed from the X100 and X200 lineups.
  • Its return comes days after Samsung promoted the same feature on the Galaxy S26 series, showing vivo is responding to user demand and current camera trends.

vivo has officially brought back Horizon Level Stabilization on the X300 Ultra. The confirmation came today from Keshav Chugh, vivo Global photographer and camera team member, who posted on X: “You asked, and it’s here. Horizon Level Stabilization is officially back on the X300 Ultra!”

The shared screenshot from the X300 Ultra camera app clearly shows the “Horizon Leveling Stabilization” toggle available inside video mode.

The feature uses sensor data and smart cropping to keep the horizon level even if the phone is tilted, rotated, or moved heavily. The result is a gimbal-style stabilized look without needing extra hardware.

This used to be one of vivo’s standout video features on phones like the X80 Pro, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+, though it was quietly removed starting with the X100 series and also stayed missing on the X200 lineup. That led to repeated complaints from long-time vivo users who wanted it back.

The timing is interesting too. Samsung recently made “Super Steady with Horizon Lock” one of the promoted camera features of the Galaxy S26 series. That version uses aggressive ultra-wide cropping to keep footage level during heavy movement, and it gained attention quickly across reviews and social media.

With the feature now live on the X300 Ultra, vivo has brought back one of its more requested video tools while also building on the phone’s existing stabilization hardware, including 3° OIS on the 200 MP periscope telephoto camera.

A reply under the official post has already asked if the same feature is coming to the X300 Pro as well, though vivo has not shared anything yet about a wider rollout.
