A mobile phone has become an essential item for individuals in today’s society. With the continuous advancement of technology, a diverse range of new phones is consistently introduced to the market, appealing to consumers. When their contracts expire, many buyers seek to acquire a new device during the renewal process. In 2024, numerous phone models were launched, and a new series is set to debut in 2025. This abundance of options makes it challenging for consumers to determine which phone best suits their needs. Currently, there are eight categories of phones available: flagship smartphones, sub-flagship smartphones, camera-focused smartphones, budget smartphones, gaming smartphones, foldable phones, rugged phones, and feature phones. Let’s explore some of the most promising phone launches expected to take place in 2025, which will offer enhanced specifications, superior camera features, and updated software and applications.

1. Samsung Galaxy S25 Series

About: The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Series that will take place in January 2025 will be one of the major flagship series launches of 2025. Samsung Galaxy S25 Series will include Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25+, and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will run stable One UI 7.

The Ultra model is expected to get a curvier design this time along with a larger 6.86-inch screen. The phone will get slightly slimmer and lighter along with getting a chipset upgrade as well. The vanilla and plus models won’t see much of a design change but will have higher-resolution displays and faster SoCs. While the Galaxy S25 Series will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, upcoming foldables are reportedly going back to the Exynos chipset. Highlights: The Galaxy S25 Series is set to feature the advanced Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, complemented by enhanced 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage capacity. The Ultra model will showcase a quad-camera configuration, including a 200MP primary camera and an improved 50MP ultrawide sensor. Its design will be more streamlined, with a curved and lightweight profile. Additionally, One UI 7, built on Android 15, will introduce a variety of innovative Galaxy AI functionalities. There is also a possibility that Qi2 charging will be included among its features.

Expected Launch Date: The Samsung Galaxy S25 Series will launch in January 2025, however, the date hasn’t been announced yet.

2. Apple iPhone 17 Series

About: Cupertino-based tech giant will launch the iPhone 17 Series in the latter half of 2025. The iPhone 17 Series will include at least four devices- iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Since the past few weeks, leaks around the iPhone 17 Series have been making a buzz in the tech world as the lineup is expected to get one of the major design overhauls by Apple since iPhone X. Reports claim that the Pro model will be partly glass, partly aluminum and have a horizontal camera layout. The displays will be 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch respectively and they will be powered by A19 Pro chipset with RAM being upgraded to 12GB. The Pro Max variant might get the most advanced camera sensor with 48MP being the main one and the pricing in India will be similar to predecessors.

Why I mentioned at least four models above is because the iPhone 17 series is tipped to receive one more member aka iPhone 17 Air. iPhone 17 Air will be exciting as it will reportedly come with a totally new design that will be slim and light. iPhone 17 Air is expected to measure 6.25mm in terms of thickness. Mark Gurman claims it will have a custom chip for better performance and will be the most expensive model in the series.

Highlights: The introduction of a new iPhone within the iPhone 17 Series is anticipated to be a significant highlight, particularly with the excitement surrounding the iPhone 17 Air. This iteration of the standard models, the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, is expected to feature larger displays that support 120Hz refresh rates. Additionally, the Pro Models will be equipped with an Apple-designed WiFi 7 chip to enhance connectivity. Upgrades are also anticipated for both the rear and front cameras, along with the inclusion of scratch-resistant anti-reflective glass for the displays.

Expected Launch Date: The Apple iPhone 17 Series will launch in September or October 2025.

3. Realme 14 Pro Series 5G

About: Realme is inaugurating its next number series in India by launching the Realme 14x smartphone on 18th December. However, the brand will kick off the new year 2025 with the launch of the next Pro Number Series aka Realme 14 Pro Series. Realme has already confirmed the launch of the 14 Pro Series in India and it is expected to include two smartphones- Realme 14 Pro, and Realme 14 Pro Plus. The company has started teasing the launch by confirming the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. Realme has also teased that the smartphone will come with a periscope camera lens, however model name hasn’t been revealed.

The Realme 14 Pro Series will also feature AI camera features like AI Clarity 2.0 that will enhance low-resolution images and AI Image Stabilization. Some reports have claimed storage configurations to be 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB. The smartphones will come in Suede Grey and Pearl White hues.

Highlights: The forthcoming Realme 14 Pro Series is anticipated to introduce enhanced AI capabilities, an improved camera configuration, and a quicker chipset. Additionally, the pricing is expected to remain competitive, accompanied by a range of promotional offers at launch.

Expected Launch Date: The launch date of Realme 14 Pro Series 5G will be announced very soon.

4. Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 Series

About: Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 14 Series in India earlier this week and it includes three models- Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus. The series is powered by fast SoCs and runs HyperOS out of the box. This means more AI features onboard. Xiaomi has even refreshed the design of the series, along with offering larger batteries and faster charging speeds. Xiaomi claims it has used EV-grade batteries for better performance. Following the trend, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 15 Series in December 2025. It will include Note 15, Note 15 Pro, and Note 15 Pro Plus devices and run upgraded chipsets. Xiaomi might improve photography by offering a 200MP sensor on the Note 15 Pro Plus variant and battery capacity might get a boost too. It will run Android 16 and support even more AI capabilities. Since the launch is around a year away, it is too early to say anything more about the Redmi Note 15 Series.

Highlights: Redmi is prioritizing the enhancement of the longevity of its Note series smartphones. Consequently, the company may implement more robust materials and extend the duration of operating system updates starting next year. Additionally, the displays are anticipated to be more resilient, and improvements to the camera are also expected.

Expected Launch Date: The Redmi Note 15 Series will be announced in November-December 2025.

5. Motorola Razr 60 Series

About: The next generation of foldables from Motorola, aka Moto Razr 60 Series will have two models- Razr 60 and Razr 60 Ultra. A month ago, Gizmochina shared details of two Motorola phones being spotted on the IMEI database. These devices have been codenamed Orion and Houston and out of these Orion seems to be Moto Razr 60 Ultra. This is because it has a model number XT2551-3 and since last year X2451 was Razr 50 Ultra’s codename, this time it might belong to Razr 60 Ultra. Houston might be the codename for Edge 60 Ultra.

Moto Razr 60 Ultra is expected to arrive with better specs than its predecessor. The Razr 50 Ultra featured a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, a 50MP main sensor, and a 4000mAh battery. The upcoming foldable is likely to get a faster chipset, more advanced cameras, increased battery capacity, and newer AI features too.

Highlights: The Moto Razr Series presents a cost-effective foldable alternative in comparison to offerings from Samsung, OnePlus, and Vivo. The Razr 60 is expected to be priced at approximately 50,000, while the Razr 50 Ultra is likely to retail for around 85,000, positioning both models as more budget-friendly options than their competitors.

Expected Launch Date: While Moto Razr 40 Series was launched in June 2023, this year Motorola launched Razr 50 Ultra first and Razr 50 a few months later. It remains to be seen which approach the company will adopt for the Razr 60 Series, depending on which launch date will be announced.

6. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Galaxy Z Flip 7

About: The next generation of foldables from Samsung are gearing up to make their debut in 2025. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 are expected to arrive in Mid-2025 and that too with significant updates. The latest news is that Samsung might ditch the Snapdragon chipsets for Exynos SoC for the foldables. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 might be powered by Exynos 2500 chipset. Also, this time Samsung is expected to launch two more foldables, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE and Galaxy Z Flip 7 SE. These will be toned-down versions and cost less than flagship models. The SE variant of foldables might be powered by Exynos 2400e SoC.

The foldables are expected to get larger displays, inside out and pack heavier batteries under the hood. Samsung Galaxy AI features will also be a part of the next generation of foldables.

Highlights: The upcoming generation of foldable devices is expected to feature a larger screen, a slimmer profile, an upgraded chipset, and more budget-friendly alternatives. This means that consumers will have access to Samsung’s foldable technology at reduced prices, along with the integration of Galaxy AI capabilities.

Expected Launch Date: Following its pattern, Samsung might launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July 2025. The newer models might or might not launch alongside the flagship ones.

7. Motorola Edge 60 Series

Motorola Edge 50 Neo

About: Motorola launched its Edge 50 Series in India in parts. The series includes a total of five smartphones, Moto Edge 50, Moto Edge 50 Pro, Moto Edge 50 Neo, Moto Edge 50 Fusion, and Moto Edge 50 Ultra, all being launched individually in separate months. The Moto Edge 60 Lineup is also expected to get all four versions, and that too with better specs, design, and AI features.

Moto Edge 60 Ultra flagship will be made of unique materials too, like wood and vegan leather for the back, and features a larger 6.8-inch 2K OLED screen with 144Hz or 165Hz refresh rate. It will offer higher peak brightness too. The camera might still remain the same as the Moto Edge 50 (50MP+50MP+64MP), but there will be improvements in sensor size, autofocus, software enhancements like better night mode, more stabilization, and more.

The video quality which was slightly lacking in Edge 50 Ultra might become better with Edge 60 Ultra. Motorola will definitely work on AI features to make them better this time. The Edge 60 Ultra might draw power from a Snapdragon 8 Elite or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and support 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It will run Android 15 and pack a larger 5500mAh battery with 125W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Other models in the series are also expected to receive significant updates. Moto Edge 60 Series will include Edge 60, Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Ultra, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 60 Neo.

Highlights: The Moto Edge Series is recognized for its ability to strike a balance between performance and affordability. This series includes smartphones designed for a wide range of consumers, featuring AI capabilities, a streamlined user interface, a substantial battery, and rapid charging, among other attributes. The Moto Edge 50 Neo is available for Rs. 21,999, while the Moto Edge 50 Fusion is priced at Rs. 23,000. The Moto Edge 50 Pro is offered at Rs. 27,999, and the Moto Edge 50 is available for Rs. 26,999. The Ultra model is priced at Rs. 49,999.

Expected Launch Date: Motorola launched the Edge 50 Neo in September so Edge 60 Neo might come around August or September 2025. Edge 50 was launched in August, so Edge 60 and Edge 60 Neo might get the same launch date. Moto Edge 60 Ultra will launch in June or July 2025.

8. Oppo Reno 13 Series

About: Oppo launched the Reno 13 Series of smartphones in China on 25th November last month. The brand is now gearing up to announce the Oppo Reno 13 Series 5G globally as well as in India in January 2025. The Oppo Reno 13 Series will include two versions- Oppo Reno 13 and Oppo Reno 13 Pro. India’s launch date is expected to be announced soon, but since it has already rolled out in China, we do know about the features of these devices.

In China, Oppo Reno 13 has been launched with a refreshing design. There are two big camera sensors at the back of standard and Pro models. The camera alignment is vertical and the device has a boxy design with flat sides. The Reno 13 Series is powered by Dimensity 8350 chipset in China and runs Android 15-based ColorOS 15 out of the box. It has up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage and draws juice from a 5600mAh/5800mAh battery with 80W wired charging. The Pro version also supports 50W wireless charging. In terms of camera, Reno 13 Pro has a 50MP+8MP+50MP setup at the back while Reno 13 has a 50MP+8MP setup on the rear.

Highlights: The Oppo Reno 13 Series is set to introduce enhanced AI capabilities, ensuring a smoother user experience. It will be available in appealing colors such as Starlight Pink, Butterfly Purple, and Midnight Black. The pricing for the Reno 13 Series is anticipated to be mid-range, making it more accessible compared to several rival products. Additionally, the series features improved battery performance, increased peak brightness, and a new chipset.

Expected Launch Date: Oppo Reno 13 Series will have its global and India launch most likely in January 2025.

9. Vivo X300 Series

Vivo X200 Pro

About: The Flagship X Series from Vivo is one of its two major launches every year. Yesterday itself Vivo announced the X200 Series of smartphones that includes Vivo X200 and Vivo X200 Pro. It comes with significant updates over Vivo’s X100 lineup and since it has come to the country in December, the Vivo X300 series will succeed it towards the end of 2025. That means, there is almost a year to the Vivo X300 series.

Since there is an entire year to this launch, there are not even rumors around this series yet, but looking at the past trends Vivo X300 series is expected to arrive with major updates. Vivo X300 series might pack a 6900mAh battery and support 120W wired fast charging. In terms of display, there might be a larger OLED panel with smoother animation and more brightness. In terms of display, the X300 Series will be powered by Dimensity 9500 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC with 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. The camera might not see any upgrade in terms of a 200MP telephoto sensor, but other sensors might get an upgrade. 10. Google Pixel 10 Series

Google Pixel 9 Pro

About: The Google Pixel 10 Series is one of the major highlights of 2025. Last year, Google expanded its Pixel lineup by adding Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Pixel 9 Pro XL devices. The same is expected to continue in 2025 too. Google Pixel 10 Series will include Google Pixel 10, Google Pixel 10 Pro, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL smartphones.

It is still very early for the Pixel 10 Series, but that doesn’t mean there are no rumors around it. A case leak suggests that the design might not get major upgrades when compared to the Pixel 9. There might be the same oval-shaped camera bar and rounded corners. The display size might be similar to the Pixel 9 Series, but tech might improve with Actua or Super Actua panels. Since Pixel 9a is expected to get a design sans a camera bar at the back, the Pixel 10 series could get a design change too if this materializes.

Pixel 10 is expected to get a 64MP main sensor and a 42MP front camera. Performance is one area where the Pixel 10 Series will definitely receive an upgrade. The series will be powered by Tensor G5 SoC and it is the first chip that Google has made from scratch. A faster GPU, better TPU, and newer AI features will complement the performance aspect. Concrete details about the premium Pixel 10 models including foldables are still not revealed, but as the months go by, we are sure to get more info on the same.

Highlights: The Pixel 10 Series is set to operate on the forthcoming Android 16, promising a fresh operating system experience along with a range of new AI features. Anticipated capabilities may include Speak to Tweak, and Sketch to Image Magic Mirror, among others. Users can expect enhanced performance and increased storage options in these smartphones. Additionally, the company is likely to introduce the Pixel 10 lineup in a variety of distinctive and vibrant colors.

Expected Launch Date: Normally, Google launches the Pixel series in October, but this year Pixel 9 series was announced in August. This time since Android 16 is expected to roll out in Spring 2025, the company might again announce the Pixel 10 Series in August or September itself.

11. Vivo V50 Series

About: Vivo is anticipated to unveil two significant product launches in 2025, one of which will be the upcoming V-Series from the company. This year, Vivo introduced the V40 Series, comprising three models: Vivo V40, Vivo V40 Pro, and Vivo V40e. In 2025, the brand will follow up the V40 Series with the Vivo V50 lineup, which is also expected to feature the same three smartphones: Vivo V50, V50 Pro, and V50e.

Approximately a month ago, Smartprix published an exclusive article regarding the Vivo V50 Series. The article indicated that the Chinese manufacturer is in the process of testing the Vivo V50 and Vivo V50e models. Both devices were also identified in the IMEI database. While the network tests conducted on these models did not disclose any new features that the V50 Series might introduce, they did confirm that preparations for the launch are underway. The Vivo V50 and V50e smartphones have recently appeared on the EEC certification website. However, this sighting did not provide any specific details regarding the series. If Vivo intends to release the V50 Series in the first quarter of 2025, additional information is expected to emerge shortly. Interestingly, the Vivo V50 Pro has yet to be seen, leaving the launch of this smartphone surrounded by uncertainty.

Highlights: The Vivo V-Series is well-known for its DSLR-quality cameras, high-resolution front sensors, and sophisticated design. Although detailed information about the V50 Series has not been disclosed, past trends indicate advancements in battery performance, a larger screen, a sleeker profile, and upgraded camera technology. Specifically, the Vivo V50e is anticipated to showcase a more refined and visually appealing design, as aesthetics play a crucial role in the appeal of the e-variant.

Expected Launch Date: The Vivo V40 Series debuted in August 2024, followed by the announcement of the Vivo V40e in September 2024. Analyzing the release pattern of the Vivo V-Series, the V30 series was introduced in February 2024, and the V40 was launched in June 2024, suggesting that the V50 Series could be expected in February 2025.

Regarding the Vivo V50e, considering that the previous e-models were announced within a two-month interval, it is likely to be unveiled in May 2025.

12. Apple iPhone SE 4

About: Apple is preparing to introduce the next generation of the iPhone SE in 2025. While the company has not provided any official indications regarding the launch of the iPhone SE 4, new details about this forthcoming variant continue to emerge periodically.

The forthcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to be equipped with the A15 Bionic chipset and will include 8GB of RAM, enhancing its speed and efficiency. As Apple’s most budget-friendly smartphone, it will also incorporate AI capabilities such as image processing and voice recognition, alongside an in-house 5G chipset. Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a 48MP primary camera on the rear and a 12MP ultrawide sensor on the front, reflecting the company’s commitment to cost-effectiveness. The iPhone SE 4 is set to feature a 6.1-inch LTPS OLED display and will incorporate Face ID technology, enhancing the overall user experience. Consistent with the latest iPhone models, it will also include a USB-C port for charging purposes.

The upcoming device is expected to feature a glass and aluminum construction, resembling the iPhone 14 with its sleek, minimal bezels. In terms of battery capacity, it is anticipated to include a 3279mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the 2018mAh found in the iPhone SE 3. Additionally, the customizable Action Button may be introduced in the iPhone SE 4.

Highlights: The Apple iPhone SE 4 represents a valuable choice for those in search of a dependable smartphone from Apple at a more accessible price point. Anticipated enhancements include a superior chipset, a better display, and upgraded camera capabilities, all complemented by a sleeker design. This model is poised to be the most economical option to leverage Apple Intelligence. With a new iPhone SE being introduced after a three-year hiatus, the anticipation surrounding its release adds to its appeal.

Expected Launch Date: If the pattern of the company is anything to go by, the iPhone SE 4 will launch in March 2025 and be priced around 50k in the country.

13. Nothing Phone 3

About: Nothing Phone 3, the next flagship by the company was recently seen on Geekbench. The device was seen with model number A059 and the listing has revealed various details about the upcoming smartphone. The Nothing Phone 3 will pack an 8-core processor which might be Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. It has achieved a score of 2813 points in a multi-core test on Geekbench. The listing reveals 8GB RAM, 512GB storage, and an AMOLED display too. More about the smartphone will be known soon.

Highlights: Nothing is expected to introduce two variants of the Phone 3 this time around: the Nothing Phone 3 and the Nothing Phone 3 Pro. This strategy will enhance the product range and provide users with additional choices.

Expected Launch Date: If it follows Nothing’s trend, Phone 3 will launch in July 2025.

14. OnePlus 13

OnePlus 13 design

About: The OnePlus 13, the flagship from the house of OnePlus is almost confirmed to launch in January 2025. Recently, it was seen on Geekbench which makes the launch even more imminent. OnePlus 13 will come with some minor design refinements over the OnePlus 12 and might also have a vegan leather back panel. IP68 rating is also expected for OnePlus 13. There won’t be any improvements in display, however performance might get better with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. There might also be 16GB RAM and it will most likely run OxygenOS 15 based on Android 15.  The main camera is similar to the OnePlus 12, however telephoto sensor will be upgraded to a 50MP lens with 3x optical zoom. OnePlus 13 is also expected to get a much larger 6000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support.

Highlights: The OnePlus 13 is set to receive significant enhancements in all areas except for its display and design. Additionally, improvements in the camera user interface and the introduction of new AI features are anticipated, enabling the device to capture even higher-quality photos.

Expected Launch Date: OnePlus 13 5G will launch in January 2025.
