Top 10 Smartphones Expected to Launch in February 2018

The month of February hosts Mobile World Congress (MWC), the most awaited annual exhibition for mobile phone enthusiasts. Every year, prominent mobile brands gather at Barcelona to showcase innovative devices or technology and we get the rough idea of what we would be seeing in the first half of the year.

From Samsung to Xiaomi and Nokia to LG all are looking forward make headlines this month. Even in India, there are a bunch of mobile phones expected to launch in the next 28 days. Here’s a complete list of smartphones expected to launch in February 2018.

1. Xaiomi Redmi Note 5

Redmi-5 Plus

Xiaomi Redmi Note series is immensely popular in India. Following the Redmi Note 4 success, there are huge expectations from the Redmi Note 5. Xiaomi is expected to showcase the Redmi Note 5 at MWC 2018 followed by its launch in India.

The Redmi Note 5 specifications or features are still under tight wraps. Having said that, the Redmi Note 4 successor is expected to sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi could introduce it with Snapdragon 630 chipset along with 3GB and 4RAM.

2. Gionee S11

Last November Gionee launched Gionee S11 and five other smartphones in China. Gionee is expected to launch its S11 in India later this month. The company was planning to launch this 18:9 display phone in January but due to logistical issues, reportedly, it had to postpone the launch. Now, the Gionee S11 India launch seems imminent.

Talking about the phone, the Gionee S11 rocks a MediaTek Helio P23 chipset along with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. It packs a 5.99-inch display and two dual cameras setups both in the front and the back.

3. Nokia 6 (2018)

Nokia 6 (2018) is already out in China and later this month Nokia is expected to present it globally at MWC in Barcelona. With this incremental update, Nokia is hoping to further strengthen its position in the mass segment.

Not much has changed on exteriors as with this upgrade Nokia focused on improving performance to offer a better experience. It features Snapdragon 630 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB storage and Android Oreo.

4. Sony Xperia XA2, and XA Ultra

After showcasing the Xperia XA2, XA Ultra, and L2 at CES 2018, Sony is expected to bring all of them to India later this month. Both Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra comes with dual optics and run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.

Sony continues with its boxy design and is in no mood to pay heeds to the latest trends like bezel-less and curved displays.

Nonetheless, both these phones are powered by Snapdragon 630 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM. While the XA2 features a 5.2-inch FHD display, the XA2 Ultra will come with 6-inch FHD display. Sony Xperia L2 also expected to launch in India alongside the Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra.

5. Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

At MWC 2018, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ (features) will be unboxed making it first smartphone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 mobile processor. Samsung is also expected to showcase an Exynos 9810 chipset variant which will be launched in India.

The biggest Galaxy S9 and S9+ highlight will be the Super Speed Dual Pixel 12 MP with a Variable aperture (f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture) lens. It is also expected to come with IP68 water and dust resistance, and Intelligent scanning feature for fast and secure unlocking.

6. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s

If reports are to believe Xiaomi is expected to showcase Mix MiX 2s at the Barcelona later this month. It is hinted to feature narrower bezels and an advanced mobile processor in the Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The other notable difference in Mi Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2s will likely to be the placement of selfie camera. The Mi Mix 2s is expected to postion selfie camera at its rightful place, on top.

7. LG V30+ Alpha

The other South Korean giant LG will be presenting its V30+ Alpha at the MWC 2018. The new variant will have some extra AI features and similar hardware to V30+.
If rumors are anything to go by, the V30+ is likely to come with a 6-inch QHD+ P-OLED FullVision display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, 16MP+13MP dual rear cameras, a 5MP selfie camera and a 3,300mAh battery.

8. Asus Zenfone 5 Series

Asus will be heading to MWC 2018 with its Zenfone 5 series. The company’s launch invite hints camera’s to be the prime feature. Asus is expected to introduce the Zenfone 5, ZenFone 5 Lite and Zenfone 5 Max on February 27. We expect Asus to rope in Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors for the Zenfone 5 series.

9. Infinix Selfie Centric Phone

Infinix, the online sub-brand of Transsion Holdings, is hosting an event in India on February 6. The company is expected to announce a selfie-centric smartphone.

If industry sources are to be believed the upcoming phone will be placed under “S-series” and likely to be priced in the mid-range segment.

10. Moto G6 Series

Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to set stage on fire with its Moto G6 series. The alleged renders of entire Moto G6 family have already been leaked ahead of the launch. The G-series likely to include Moto G6 Play, Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus.

The Moto G6 Plus will be the most premium of the lot as it is likely to nest Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC with up to 4GB RAM option. Motorola is expected to offer 18:9 full HD+ displays in G6 phones.

11. Nokia 9

HMD Global is expected to launch their 2018 flagship phone, Nokia 9, at Barcelona. In the recent times, the phone was spotted on various certification sites suggesting an imminent launch.

The phone is expected to employ Snapdragon 845 chipset to put it in the same league as Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. The phone is expected to come with 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual rear camera setup and 5-megapixel selfie camera.

Top 11 Smartphones Expected to Launch in February 2018

These are all the exciting phones that are going to launch in the month of February. The likes of the Galaxy S9s, 6th generation Moto G series and Nokia 9 will be unwrapped at MWC 2018 in Barcelona while the like of Nokia 6 (2018) and Redmi Note 5 are expected to touch Indian shores as well.
