Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi is purported to launch its Mi Mix 2S, an upgraded version of Mi Mix 2, on or before February 26. The recent report hints that the company may launch the next Mi Mix phone ahead of MWC 2018.

Last year Xiaomi launched its bezel-less wonder Mi Mix 2 at a mid-range price. Building on that success, the firm is planning to launch its successor with slightly upgraded specs.

Here’s What to Expect from Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S

Snapdragon 845 Chipset

Latest reports suggest that Mi Mix 2S could rock the Snapdragon 845 chipset. The Qualcomm chipset is Android industry’s most advanced processor, focused on artificial intelligence and camera performance.

Xiaomi is yet to confirm the news, but if you recall, last year at the Qualcomm event, the firm announced that it will be using the latest chipset on its flagship phones.

Narrower bezels

Xiaomi will launch its upgraded Mi Mix 2S with few notable design changes. As tipped to us by Slashleaks, Mi Mix 2s will take its fight against once innocuous bezel to a whole new level.

Front Cam Back-on-Top

If you recall, the Mi Mix 2 had an awkwardly placed selfie camera. It was on the lower bezel and you have to always hold your phone upside down each time you click selfies.

It seems that Xiaomi has learned from its mistake and brings the selfie camera back on top. This was important because asking consumers to invert phone every time they needed to click a selfie was absolutely unwelcomed.

No Dual-cameras

Just like the Mi Mix 2, the 2S will also have a single camera sensor on the rear. It will be interesting to see what features Xiaomi will put in on the upgraded handset. We expect it to be better than the Mix 2’s 12MP Sony IMX 386 sensor with 4-axis optical stabilization.

Ceramic Back and Fingerprint Sensor

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S will flaunt the same Ceramic jacket as seen on its elder sibling. It will boast glass and ceramic unibody which is held together by a rail made of 7000 series Aluminium.

Xiaomi will go for the capacitative fingerprint sensor on the phone instead of the latest in-display optical sensor. The Mi Mix 2S will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor placed below the camera.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S Launch Date

As of now, there is very limited information over the innards of Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2S. As we inch closer to the launch event, we’ll hopefully learn more about the device. The phone will be launched before February 26, that is when the Mobile World Congress will commence.
