Unlike conventional flagship launches that focus on faster processors or larger camera sensors, the Robot Phone is built around a robotic camera system that physically moves to keep subjects in frame.
A Camera That Physically Moves
The Robot Phone’s defining feature is a 4DoF titanium-alloy robotic gimbal arm that deploys from the top of the phone in under a second and can rotate through 360 degrees.

Instead of relying solely on electronic stabilization or digital cropping, the camera module itself moves to follow subjects. Honor says users can simply double-tap a subject on the display, after which the robotic arm physically tracks it using AI-powered object tracking.

The camera interface has also been redesigned with a joystick instead of a conventional shutter button, reinforcing Honor’s goal of making the Robot Phone feel more like a dedicated filming tool than a traditional smartphone.
Speaking at MWC earlier this year, Honor CEO Li Jian said smartphones should no longer remain “boring black squares with a touchscreen,” a philosophy that the Robot Phone attempts to put into practice.
ARRI-Tuned Camera System

Honor has officially confirmed its partnership with ARRI Image Science, bringing professional cinema imaging technologies to a smartphone for the first time.
The Robot Phone features a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch f/2.6 periscope telephoto camera at 2.7X optical zoom. The primary sensor is a 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.6 aperture mounted on the phone’s signature three-axis robotic gimbal.

Beyond the hardware, the ARRI collaboration introduces professional filmmaking tools including Log-C video recording, LUT color grading files, and manual controls that allow users to lock focus, white balance, and exposure. Honor also says camera movement data can be transferred in workflows similar to professional film productions.
Honor’s New Yuguang H1 Imaging Chip

The Robot Phone also debuts Honor’s first in-house imaging processor, called the Yuguang H1. According to the company, the chip enables real-time on-device image processing, including white balance adjustment, exposure control, tone mapping, glare reduction, and detail enhancement across multiple cameras.
Honor has also introduced AIMAGE 2.0, a new stabilization engine designed to improve video recording whether users are standing still or moving.

The robotic gimbal motor itself weighs 2.6 grams. Honor claims it is 65% smaller and offers 35% higher torque density than conventional smartphone gimbal motors. The company also revealed that the Robot Phone is backed by more than 100 patents.

According to official announcements and certification listings, the Robot Phone is expected to feature a 6.3-inch to 6.4-inch flat display with a 1.5K resolution and ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and offer up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
The rear camera setup consists of a 200MP main camera (1/1.28-inch, f/1.6) mounted on the robotic gimbal, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a 200MP 2.7X periscope telephoto camera.
Other expected specifications include a 6,000 mAh battery, 120W wired charging, YOYO AI with on-device processing, and the new Yuguang H1 imaging processor.
YOYO AI Powers the “Robot” Experience

Honor is pairing the robotic hardware with its latest YOYO AI platform. Rather than functioning solely as a chatbot, YOYO AI is designed to perform multi-step actions across the phone. During demonstrations, it has been shown adjusting camera settings automatically, hailing rides, offering proactive recommendations, understanding user intent, and coordinating tasks across multiple devices.
Honor also says the AI model can interpret emotional cues to make interactions feel more natural, though these capabilities will need to be evaluated once the device reaches reviewers.
Honor Robot Phone Launch Date

Honor has confirmed that the Robot Phone will launch in China on August 12, 2026. Pre-orders have already opened through JD.com and other sales channels in China.
