Tesla has been in work to design electric cars without steering wheels and pedals. A recent report has appeared suggesting that the company’s CEO and founder Elon Musk has held an in-house meeting revealing his dream plan to introduce the driverless car by 2023. The proposed price for the said electric car is $25,000.

Elon Musk has previously announced during the Tesla Battery Day event last year that the company will be manufacturing a $25,000 fully autonomous electric car. Now, the same has been reported by Electrek with fresh information. The source explains that Tesla will achieve the said price by employing its new battery cell and battery manufacturing tech. It is said to reduce the price reasonably by 50%.

While there’s no official confirmation, the upcoming electric car is dubbed as Tesla Model 2. It will be designed in an electric hatchback style. The electric mobility giant is scheduling the production of Model 2 at its Shanghai Gigafactory, China which will also be an export centre for the global market. Tesla is also setting up an R&D hub in China to manufacture Chinese-style electric vehicles for which it has taken new admissions of talents.

As of now, Tesla is functioning on the beta version of Full Self-Driving software in the US which will be deployed by the end of September. The update will be seeking US govt approval and further makes the existing Tesla vehicles safer during auto-pilot mode.

Tesla’s new battery technology will help them in setting foot in the markets like India where feasible cost is prominent. Nevertheless, the American giant has cleared the first stage of entering the Indian market by achieving homologation for its four electric cars. It is believed that Tesla Model 3 and Model Y will be the first entrants among others.
