TL; DR
  • Sony is developing two flagship camera sensors: the 200 MP LYT-910 and the 50 MP LYT-838.
  • The LYT-910 focuses on ultra-high detail and light sensitivity, while the LYT-838 debuts Sony’s new LOFIC HDR tech.
  • OPPO and vivo plan to use these sensors in 2026 flagships, with wider adoption expected across the industry by late 2026.

As phones with Sony’s LYT-828 sensor continue to roll out, the company is already preparing its next imaging hardware: the LYT-838 and LYT-910. Both sensors target flagship smartphones, with the LYT-910 likely debuting in early 2026 and the LYT-838 following later that year.

LYT910

The LYT-910 is a 200 MP, 1/1.11-inch sensor, one of Sony’s largest yet. It is most expected to be seen on Ultra smartphones like the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and vivo X300 Ultra.

LYT910

The LYT-838, meanwhile, succeeds the LYT-828 with a 50 MP, 1/1.28-inch sensor that introduces Sony’s new LOFIC (Low-Noise Overflow Integration Capacitor) HDR technology. This innovation reduces motion blur and ghosting while offering a wider dynamic range than traditional DCG or DXG-based systems. We’ve already seen this being used on the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s main camera.

LYT838

Both OPPO and vivo are reportedly integrating the LYT-838 into their upcoming X-series devices for late 2026, while other manufacturers, including Apple, are exploring LOFIC for future models. If these plans hold, the LYT-838 and LYT-910 could mark a turning point for mobile photography.
