We are moving towards one of the biggest launches this year aka the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. The flagship chipset will power an array of flagship phones in the coming months. With that being said, tipster Digital Chat Station has quoted promising performance on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC in his post on Weibo. Let’s delve a bit deeper.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC shows promising GPU performance

The post doesn’t carry much info, however, it does say how the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC’s Adreno GPU is capable of supporting  Genshin Impact gameplay at a native 1080p resolution. For the unversed, Genshin is a graphics-intensive game akin to PUBG or Fortnite. People test out their systems by playing games as such to find how far they can push GPU’s performance.

DCS post on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC

Although the post doesn’t talk about anything beyond that, it is a sigh of relief for tech enthusiasts since the news around the SD8 Gen4 SoC being an underperformer started doing the rounds of the internet. A phone was spotted on AnTuTu with the unreleased chipset scoring 1.73-lac points while the last-gen SD8 Gen3 pierced through the 2-lac points mark with ease.

However, do note that the SoC is still under development. The one tested on AnTuTu could be an engineering sample meaning the actual finished product would execute greater performance. It remains to be seen when we start getting positive updates on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC Launch Timeline

Every year, we get to see a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen SoC upgrade at the Snapdragon Summit and this year might be the change. Tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo mentioned there will be a slew of devices running the flagship SoC after Chinese National Day which falls on October 1. This update does corroborate with a previous leak suggesting Qualcomm can launch the chipset earlier than last year.

For now, Xiaomi 15 appears to be the first take with the phone launching in mid-October. This will be followed by the flagship models from OnePlus and iQOO among others. Samsung will follow the usual launch timeline with its Galaxy S-series arriving early next year sporting this flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.
