Snapdragon 8 Elite’s Successor Already In The Works

According to reliable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm has already started working on the Snapdragon 8 Elite successor. “Qualcomm’s next-generation SM8850 production line has been advanced,” writes the tipster in a post on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo.
Usually, Qualcomm releases its new flagships in October. However, given that the company has fast-tracked the development, the next-generation processor could arrive a bit early. There’s a chance that the second-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite could arrive a few months before the usual timeline, i.e., by the middle of the next year.

It Will Still Use TSMC’s 3nm Fabrication Technology
Adding to the information, the tipster mentions how the chipset will use TSMC’s 3nm fabrication technology. This indicates that chip giants could stick with the 3nm manufacturing process for another year before finally moving on to the 2nm process. This aligns with a recent report about how Apple won’t use 2nm chipsets until 2026.
Last but not least, the chip will offer a “significantly improved” GPU. Even though Snapdragon 8 Elite’s GPU supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for running video games in the highest possible resolution, its successor could use some improvements.
