Seiko is once again merging the worlds of precision horology and high-octane motorsports. The Japanese watchmaker has officially launched the Seiko 5 Sports x Supercars Limited Edition GMT (SSK037), a timepiece designed to celebrate its ongoing partnership with the Repco Supercars Championship.

For fans of both racing and “bang-for-your-buck” watchmaking, this release marks a limited edition addition to the popular Seiko 5 Sports line.

Racing-Inspired Design

The standout feature of the SSK037 is its “carbon-fibre” textured dial, which mimics the carbon fibre elements you see on modern sportscars. The watch utilizes a classic “Two-tone” color scheme – bright red and Black chaptering, reflecting the colors of the racetrack.

The Supercars logo is subtly integrated onto the dial and featured prominently on the exhibition case back. To complete the look, the watch comes in a sleek presentation box with a numbered certificate of authenticity, making it a true collector’s item.

Performance Under the Hood

Beyond its aesthetics, the watch is a tool-focused GMT. This means it allows the wearer to track two different time zones simultaneously, a favorite feature for frequent travelers.

It is powered by Seiko’s reliable Calibre 4R34 automatic movement, offering a 41-hour power reserve. The build is classic Seiko: a 42.5mm stainless steel case, Hardlex crystal with a “cyclops” magnifier over the date, and 100 meters of water resistance. It is rugged enough for the pit lane but refined enough for daily wear.

Pricing and Availability

As with many of Seiko’s regional collaborations, the Supercars GMT is a limited release. Only 1,500 units have been produced, reflecting the racing year.

The watch is priced at $850 AUD (approximately $602 USD, INR 55,600). While primarily targeted at the Australian and New Zealand markets, Seiko collectors worldwide are already eyeing this release for its unique dial texture and motorsport pedigree. If you’re looking to snag one, you’ll need to move fast much like the cars that inspired it.
