TL; DR
- Samsung surprised everyone by teasing the Galaxy S25 Edge at the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event.
- The device has a dual-camera setup and sleek glass sandwich body, departing from earlier rumors of a triple-camera system.
- The S25 Edge may launch with Samsung’s Android XR-powered VR headset in May 2025.
So, just when we thought we had everything figured out, Samsung pulled off a surprise move that no one saw coming. At the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event, just as we thought the show was over, they teased the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
“Just when you think you’ve seen it all, the show isn’t over. A culmination of our most innovative technology packed into a form that is sleek, powerful, and unlike anything you’ve seen before: introducing the Galaxy S25 Edge,” the narrator announced at the conclusion of the Unpacked event in San Jose, California.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge (Edge is not a new name to the Samsung’s lineup) is going to be one of the thinnest and lightest flagship smartphones we’ve seen, at just 6.4mm, at least according to the rumors.
Earlier, there were leaks hinting at the S25 Slim, so it’s possible the S25 Edge might be that same device, or it could be something entirely different. Either way, it seems like it’ll be going head-to-head with the rumored iPhone 17 Air.
Dual Cameras?

As for the camera, Samsung’s teaser showed a dual-camera setup, which is pretty interesting given earlier rumors suggested it would have a triple-camera system. The design looks sleek too, with a glass sandwich body and thin borders around the punch-hole display.

Another thing we noticed is that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge has a camera bump that sticks out quite a bit, which indicates just how incredibly thin the device is. And yes, it looks very thin in the real-life images too. The device also looks incredibly lightweight.

The design follows Samsung’s signature style, with flat frames and a flat display, so it’s clear this won’t resemble the Galaxy S7 Edge. The S7 Edge had those dramatic curves, so it’s a bit ironic that this new device carries the “Edge” name, especially since it doesn’t feature those curved screens.
Oh, and Samsung did say that design is subject to change.
Launching in May?
Maybe Samsung just wanted to bring the name back, or maybe it means something else (cutting-edge?), but it’s still funny considering the history of the Edge branding. The Galaxy S25 Edge could launch alongside the Samsung VR headset in May 2025, Samsung’s first Android XR-powered VR headset (Project Moohan).
