The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra launched recently, aiming to build on the massive success of its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which was widely acclaimed as the best smartphone of the year by countless creators and publications. On the other hand, vivo’s X200 Pro, which hit the market last month, has been making waves for being touted as the best camera phone on the market.
But the big question is: What has the Galaxy S25 Ultra brought to the table to compete with vivo’s flagship? In this comparison, we’ll dive deep into every detail, from cameras, software, and performance to battery life and charging. Let’s see if Samsung can defend its crown or if vivo has set a new benchmark.
Design & Build
Samsung has opted for a titanium frame for improved durability with the Corning Gorilla Glass Armor 2. The dimensions are sleek, and the device weighs 218g, making it slightly lighter than vivo’s flagship. The phone boasts an IP68 rating and an integrated S Pen, offering functionality that goes beyond just a smartphone.

vivo balances aesthetics and functionality with an aluminum alloy frame and glass or glass fiber back. Despite the slightly bulkier weight (223/228g), it adds a premium feel. The phone is a bit top-heavy, though. It’s got both IP68 and IP69 rating and Schott Xensation glass protection.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and vivo X200 Pro both support eSIM. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is slightly thinner at 8.2 mm, but the X200 Pro comes in two variants. If you opt for the other variant, it will also be 8.2 mm; otherwise, it’s 8.5 mm. Both phones feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Winner: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Display
Both phones feature 120 Hz LTPO AMOLED displays, but the vivo X200 Pro offers a 0.1–120 Hz refresh rate, compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s 1–120 Hz range. The X200 Pro supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, whereas the Galaxy S25 Ultra only supports HDR10+.

The X200 Pro boasts a higher peak brightness of 4,500 Nits, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra peaks at 2,600 Nits. However, peak brightness doesn’t make a huge difference in everyday use, as both displays are sufficiently bright. The Galaxy S25 Ultra features a flat screen while the X200 Pro has a micro quad-curved one.

Display sizes also differ slightly, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra at 6.9 inches and the X200 Pro at 6.78 inches. The X200 Pro has a resolution of 1260 x 2800 pixels (452 ppi), while the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers a higher resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels (505 ppi).

Performance
Both devices pack powerful chipsets. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, an overclocked variant featuring 2x 4.47 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores and 6x 3.53 GHz Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores, paired with the Adreno 830 GPU.

The vivo X200 Pro, equipped with the Dimensity 9400, features an octa-core setup: 1x 3.63 GHz Cortex-X925 core, 3x 3.3 GHz Cortex-X4 cores, and 4x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A720 cores, paired with the Immortalis G925 GPU.

Chipset | CPU | GPU | |
Galaxy S25 Ultra | Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) | Octa-core (2x 4.47 GHz + 6x 3.53 GHz) | Adreno 830 |
vivo X200 Pro | MediaTek Dimensity 9400 (3 nm) | Octa-core (1x 3.63 GHz + 3x 3.3 GHz + 4x 2.4 GHz) | Immortalis-G925 |
Both phones come with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. However, the storage and RAM options differ:
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, and 12 GB + 1 TB.
- vivo X200 Pro: 16 GB + 512 GB.
In real-life performance, both should perform similarly for daily tasks. However, the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers better game compatibility, as Snapdragon processors traditionally have superior optimization and support for games compared to MediaTek chipsets.
Additionally, benchmark scores favor the Snapdragon 8 Elite, making the Galaxy S25 Ultra the better performer overall, particularly for gaming and demanding applications. That said, the vivo X200 Pro is also no slouch when it comes to performance.

Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features:
- 200 MP f/1.7, 1/1.3-inch main camera
- 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide, 13mm
- 10 MP f/2.4, 1/3.52-inch 3x telephoto lens
- 50 MP f/3.4 periscope lens with 5x optical zoom, 1/2.52-inch

While these sensors are impressive, the 3x telephoto is relatively weak, and the ultra-wide lens, despite being 50 megapixels, doesn’t get any upgrades in the sensor size. Overall, while the Galaxy S25 Ultra has great sensors, it falls behind the vivo X200 Pro in camera performance.
The vivo X200 Pro features:
- 50 MP f/1.6, 1/1.28-inch sensor with a larger pixel size for better image quality
- 50 MP f/2.0 ultrawide, 15mm lens (not as wide as the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s)
- 200 MP f/2.7, 1/1.4-inch 3.7x telephoto lens with macro capabilities (2.7:1 crop)

The X200 Pro also features the largest periscope lens on any smartphone, ensuring superior zoom quality. Both phones have Laser AF, but the X200 Pro takes things up a notch with ZEISS T* lens coating and 3D LUT import.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 12 MP f/2.2 front camera at 26mm with AF, while the vivo X200 Pro features a 32 MP f/2.0 front camera at 20mm. This wider lens on the X200 Pro allows for more people to be captured in the frame. Both can record 4K video at 30 fps and 60 fps from the front camera.
For video, both phones can record in 8K at 30 fps, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra also offering 8K at 24 fps and 4K at 120 fps. The X200 Pro supports 4K at 120 fps and also has the ability to record in LOG video and Dolby Vision HDR. The Samsung can also record in Galaxy LOG and it now records in HDR10+ by default.
Software
The Galaxy S25 Ultra runs on One UI 7, based on Android 15, offering a polished software experience with plenty of AI features as a part of Galaxy AI. In comparison, the vivo X200 Pro runs on Funtouch OS 15, also based on Android 15, but only includes one or two AI features.

If software experience is important to you, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is the clear winner. It also stands out with 7 years of both OS and security updates, while the vivo X200 Pro offers only 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
Battery & Charging
The Galaxy S25 Ultra comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, supporting 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

On the other hand, the vivo X200 Pro boasts a larger 6,000 mAh Si/C battery, with blazing-fast 90W wired charging and 30W wireless charging. It even comes with the 90W fast charger in the box, unlike the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The vivo X200 Pro takes the lead with a bigger battery and faster charging capabilities. However, real-world usage is yet to be seen to fully determine their effectiveness.

Which One Should You Buy?

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is priced at ₹1,35,000, while the vivo X200 Pro comes in at a much more affordable ₹95,000—similar to the Galaxy S25+ pricing. Despite the price gap, the X200 Pro holds its ground as a strong competitor to the S25 Ultra, especially with its incredible camera capabilities.

For photography enthusiasts who don’t mind dealing with vivo’s Funtouch OS—a sub-par software experience—the X200 Pro is a solid choice. On the other hand, if you prioritize a seamless software experience with long-term updates and still want good cameras, the Galaxy S25 Ultra might be the better pick, provided you can overlook its smaller battery, slower charging, and significantly higher price.
