The rumors around Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra just got a bit more strong with the latest news claiming that it will get a 200MP snapper at the back. Yep, you heard it right, a 200MP snapper that has been doing the rounds of the internet for some time now and it is likely the S23 supremo will pick it up for its next year’s launch as well.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra likely to get a 200MP Camera

The news recently broke out of South Korea’s Korea IT News that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will pick up the massive 200MP sensor as its primary camera. It will be limited to the Ultra variant only replacing the current-gen 108MP that has been in use for two generations now – it debuted with the S20 Ultra.

The report puts out that Samsung reportedly has asked its major camera partners about its move to commission a 200MP sensor on the upcoming Ultra model. It includes Samsung Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics which are Samsung’s only wings to produce 200MP snappers for its smartphones. What’s interesting is the fact that the 200MP camera sensor might trickle down to the lower segment of Samsung smartphones as well, although there’s no timeline available for the integration yet.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra was the first Samsung model to pick up a 108MP snapper. It has since been used across S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra, which means the tech will be three years old until the S23 Ultra release. This is probably one of the reasons why Samsung is making a switch from the existing 108MP snapper to a massive 200MP snapper on the S23 Ultra giving it a boost in its already amazing camera performance.

In related news, the South Korean giant is likely to pick up Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Max fingerprint scanning technology for the Ultra variant that has been seen on iQOO 9 Pro and Vivo X80 Pro. It has a large scanning area and allows rapid scanning minimizing the instances of errors.
