The South Korean tech giant Samsung is working on Galaxy M34’s successor, Galaxy M44, and its first look has just surfaced on the internet. The smartphone could also feature major performance improvements, which indicates a price hike. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Galaxy M44 5G.

Galaxy M44 5G First Image Leaked

Tipster Anthony, who goes by the username @TheGalox_ on X, has shared an image of the purported Samsung Galaxy M44. Although unclear, the image shows a triple camera setup (along with flash) on the top left of the phone’s back panel. Toward the bottom, one can also see the Samsung branding. The right spine also has volume rockets. However, that is everything visible in what’s probably the black color of the upcoming phone.

Galaxy M44 5G Could Feature Snapdragon 888 Chipset

What’s interesting, however, is that the tipster claims the phone will run on Snapdragon 888, an octa-core chipset based on 5nm fabrication technology. For those catching up, Qualcomm released the chipset in 2020, and back then, it used to power flagship Android phones. This is not the first time such information has come up, as a Geekbench listing from July also hinted at the presence of a chipset in Galaxy M44.

However, what’s worth mentioning is that the Galaxy M34 5G runs on a mid-tier Exynos 1280 SoC, which doesn’t even come close to what the Snapdragon 8 series chipset offers. The former scores about 850 points in the single-core Geekbench benchmark test, while the latter scores about 1,100 points. While the performance leap would surely benefit users, this could also mean that the smartphone will see a significant price bump.

Will The New Chipset Increase The Smartphone’s Price?

Currently, the Samsung Galaxy M34 5G, with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal stores, a 120Hz AMOLED screen, and a 6,000 mAh battery, sells for Rs. 15,999 on Amazon. However, the most affordable smartphone with the Snapdragon 888, i.e., the MI 11X Pro 5G, is available on Amazon for Rs. 24,749 (without any bank offers) as part of the Great Indian Festival Sale. Hence, if the Galaxy M44 5G will feature the more powerful Snapdragon chip, it would be a surprise if Samsung launches it at a similar price.
