Reliance Jio announces Voice-Only Plans with a 365-day Validity Period

Following TRAI’s mandate, Telecom provider Reliance Jio has announced voice-only plans for those who don’t need internet data and OTT benefits. The company has rolled out two Unlimited voice plans for Indian users that offer a validity of up to 365 days. The plans include voice calling, Free SMS, and subscriptions to some basic Jio applications. For now, only two voice plans have been announced catering to users looking for budget-friendly calling and SMS options.

Jio Voice Only Plans

  • Rs. 458 Plan– will be valid for 84 days and offer unlimited voice calling. It will also offer 1000 free SMS and free national roaming capability. There is no mobile data included but a subscription to Jio Cinema, Jio TV, and Jio Cloud apps.
  • Rs. 1958 Plan– will be valid for 365 days and offer unlimited voice calling. It will also offer 3600 free SMS and free national roaming. There is no mobile data included but a subscription to Jio TV, Jio Cinema, and Jio Cloud apps.

Changes to existing plans

Jio has also made some changes to its existing plans. It has removed two budget-friendly plans-

  • Rs. 479 Plan- that offered 6GB data with a validity of 84 days.
  • Rs. 1899 Plan- that offered 24GB data with a validity of 336 days.

The recent changes follow after a mandate was issued by the Telecommunications Authority of India wherein it was made compulsory for telecom operators to come up with calling-only plans for those who don’t want internet data and OTT benefits.
