Xiaomi India has just rolled out the invite for its upcoming launch of Redmi Y3 (presumably) which will be held on April 24. The Redmi Y3 teaser page is also live on Amazon India. The 32MP selfie camera is clearly mentioned on the Media invite and Xiaomi has been actively teasing the upcoming phone on its social media handles.

The Amazon listing also mentions Qualcomm chipset, splash resistance, a big battery, and a sneak peek into the upcoming design.

Recently, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain tweeted selfies captured from an upcoming Redmi phone. The 35-second peppy video showcased him having fun selfies with his colleagues at MI. The twitter post clearly hinted at the “Y” model and brags the optical prowess of its 32MP front-facing camera.

The upcoming Redmi Y3 would be a definite upgrade on the camera front if you compare it the Redmi Y2(review). Upfront it has doubled the resolution to 32MP, but the actual output could be 8MP binned images.

Few other recent phones to sport the same megapixel number are Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Lite, Huawei P30 Pro (review) and Vivo V15 Pro (review). Most of them use Samsung’s GD1 sensor that features Real-time HDR capability.

Moving ahead to other specifications, the phone could come with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support. Besides this, last month’s WiFi certification also tells us that the phone could be running on Android 9.0 based MIUI out of the box. We wouldn’t mind Xiaomi surprising us with a quick MIUI 11 update too.
