Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 launched in India: Price, Specifications and Features

Xiaomi India has launched the Redmi 7 and Redmi Y3, both of which have more than their fair share of similarities. The Redmi Y3 targets Generation Y with its 32MP Super Selfie camera, gradient finish, 4000mAh battery, dot notch amongst other things. The Redmi 7, on the other hand, comes in different (lower) RAM and Storage configurations and is missing the highlighted selfie camera.

Redmi Y3 Key Features

Straight off the bat, Redmi Y3 is a selfie-centered phone and the head-turner is its 32MP Super Selfie camera. It features sensor which is 1/ 2.8 inch in size and 22.5% larger than the predecessor, theoretically resulting in more details. Apart from the enhanced detailing, the company also bets on a wider dynamic range. This is coupled with AI beautify 4.0, Auto-HDR, wider 80-degree field of view for group selfies, EIS on 1080p Full-HD video and some nice haves like- Palm shutter, and 360-degree face unlocking too.

When it comes to low-light photography, Redmi Y3 offers 1.6-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel for better night mode, which could be spruced up using the screen flash.

Flipping to the rear, we have a 12MP+2MP duo while the primary one comes with 1.25-inch sensor size. This one also packs AI scene detection, Full-HD video at 60FPS with EIS and even the integration of Google Lens right in the camera app.

As for the design, Redmi Y3 flaunts a 6.26-inch Dot Notch IPS LCD display that has a 19:9 aspect ratio. It is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The phone dons the Aura Prism aesthetics and would be available in Elegant Blue, Prime Black, Bold Red color options.

Redmi Y3 gladly retains a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2+1 card slot (Dual SIM Dual VOLTE+ Micro-SD card up to 512GB, fingerprint sensor, and infrared blaster.

Under the hood, the Redmi Y3 is fueled by a larger 4,000mAh battery, 33 percent more than Y2. On the software side, the MIUI 10 based on Android 9.0 Pie is also optimized for power consumption. It runs on 14nm 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 chipset.

Redmi 7 Key Features

The Redmi 7 has a 6.26-inch display with HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio, which also houses a water-drop notch. Under the hood, it runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor coupled with a 4000 mAh battery.

While we get a 12MP+2MP camera combination at the back, Redmi 7’s front camera sports an 8MP sensor. This front sensor also acts as a biometric solution (face unlock). Redmi 7 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, fingerprint sensor, and IR blaster too.

It would be available in Comet Blue, Eclipse Black, and Lunar Red colors.

You could grab the following variants of Redmi Y3:

It would be available starting April 30 at 12 noon via Mi offline outlets and Amazon India.

As for Redmi 7, following models would be out on the shelves:

  • 2GB RAM +32GB Onboard Storage: Rs. 7,999
  • 3GB RAM +32GB Onboard Storage: Rs. 8,999

It is going to be available from April 29 at 12 noon via Mi offline outlets and Amazon India.

Xiaomi India has also launched MI LED Smart Bulb which will be up for crowdfunding via mi.com on April 26.
