TL; DR
  • realme C83 5G launched in India on March 7 starting at Rs. 13,499, available in three variants across Flipkart, realme’s website, and offline stores with six-month no-cost EMI. The phone packs a 7,000mAh battery, 144Hz LCD display, and a Dimensity 6300 chip with up to 12GB dynamic RAM — unusual specs for the sub-Rs.15,000 segment. MIL-STD 810H military-grade certification, IP64 splash resistance, and a claimed six-year lifespan make it one of the more durability-focused budget phones in its class.

Rs. 13,499 doesn’t usually buy you much to write home about. A decent screen if you’re lucky, maybe a battery that survives till dinner. realme, however, seems to have missed that memo with the C83 5G. A 7,000mAh battery, MIL-STD 810H military certification, and a 144Hz display — all under fourteen grand. The C series has always punched above its weight, but this one lands with a little more swagger than its predecessors.

It runs realme UI 7.0 on Android 16, comes in two colours named after things that grow — Blooming Purple and Sprouting Green — and is clearly aimed at buyers who just want a phone that gets through the day without complaining. Whether it actually holds up is something the reviewers will figure out soon enough. On paper though, it’s making a convincing argument.

realme C83 5G: Price & Availability

realme C83 5G Launches in India at Rs. 13,499: Military Toughness, Giant Battery, Budget Price

The C83 5G went on sale March 7, so if you’ve been waiting, the wait is already over.

Three variants: 4GB + 64GB at Rs. 13,499, 4GB + 128GB at Rs. 14,499, and 6GB + 128GB at Rs. 17,499.

The top variant is the one to pick if you’ve ever had to delete photos to download an app — you know who you are. All three come with six-month no-cost EMI, which means you can technically justify this to yourself as “barely any money per month.” Flipkart, realme’s own website, and offline stores are all stocking it, so take your pick.

The sub-Rs. 15,000 segment is a crowded, messy place right now — everyone’s fighting for the same buyer. The C83 5G shows up with 5G in its corner, which at least means it won’t feel obsolete the moment your network operator gets serious about rolling out coverage in your area.

The display is a 6.8-inch HD+ IPS LCD running at 144Hz, with touch sampling up to 180Hz and peak brightness of 900 nits. HD+ instead of FHD+ is the one concession to the price tag — you’ll notice it if you look for it, but most people won’t be staring at pixels all day.

Inside, the Dimensity 6300 keeps things moving, and while it’s no speed demon, it handles day-to-day tasks without breaking a sweat. RAM starts at 4GB but stretches to 12GB with dynamic expansion — a trick that helps when you’ve got seventeen apps open and no intention of closing any of them. Storage tops out at 128GB, with microSD going up to 2TB, which frankly feels excessive in the best possible way.

The 7,000mAh battery is the obvious headline — though 15W charging is where you earn it back slowly. Budget a few hours. Reverse wired charging and bypass charging are also supported, which is more than most rivals bother with at this price.

On durability, MIL-STD 810H certification and IP64 dust and splash resistance mean this phone has technically been through more stress testing than most people ever will. realme also claims a six-year reliable usage lifespan, which is either very confident or very optimistic — probably both.

Camera setup is a 13MP rear and 5MP front, both f/2.2 — honest rather than exciting. An AI Outdoor Mode kicks in to boost brightness, speaker volume, and network performance when you step outside, which sounds more useful than it initially reads.

Speaking of speakers, the 300% Ultra Volume mode exists for those who treat every room like a personal concert hall. Connectivity is well covered — 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack that continues to exist, much to the relief of everyone who still hasn’t bought wireless earphones.
