Telecom operators, as well as smartphone manufacturers, are lacing up their boots to deploy 5G, the next generation of cellular mobile communications. One such company is the dark horse of the smartphone industry, i.e. Oneplus. The company has sent out media invites for its Oneplus 5G prototype unveil at MWC 2019.
This prototype would be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. And since its a 5G device, the processor would come with X50 modem. This would provide users with unmatched imaging, gaming, and intelligence for the new decade of wireless experience. You could also take the hands-on experience of 5G cloud gaming on the new 5G prototype device, which will be displayed at Qualcomm Technologies’ booth.
During the event, Pete Lau will be joined by Qualcomm President Cristiano R. Amon, and EE CEO Marc Allera, in a panel discussion led by Marisa Viveros, Executive at IBM leading Strategy and Solutions for Global Telecommunications, to enlighten us on the future and possibilities of 5G.
EE is the official network partner of Oneplus in the UK. Together, they would be the first to release a 5G commercial smartphone in the country. EE, a leading network provider in the UK would be switching on 5G sites in 16 UK cities in 2019. Oneplus expects its strides in R&D with EE would bring fruitful results.
By the end of 2018, we had reports surfacing on Oneplus 5G smartphone design leaks and other details. We had an image of OnePlus CEO Pete Lau giving a presentation on an upcoming device. A Oneplus prototype is seen sporting a circular ring for the camera sensors. We even got the hints of two color variants, viz. Red and Silver/White.
Since then, there have been rumors on the oncoming phone to come with a slider mechanism just like in the Find X or Mi Mix 3. Speculations were on a magnetic slider to house its various cameras, sensors, and antenna. So, maybe no Notch, aye mate?
“Our strong relationship with mobile industry leaders like Qualcomm Technologies and EE makes us believe that we could bring the best 5G device to the world. OnePlus’ core strength is having a tech community with more than 5.5 million users from 196 countries around the world. Our mission to tackle 5G head on was decided together with our community members. No other company out there is better suited to take on 5G than OnePlus,” states Pete Lau.
