New smartphone brands are still entering India, even with global trade issues and a slower market. Following recent news of Acer and Alcatel’s renewed smartphone ambitions in the country, another contender, nxtQ, is preparing to enter the space. A notable common denominator in several of these emerging brands is Madhav Sheth, the veteran industry executive.
Sheth recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to tease the arrival of nxtQ, signaling its smartphone debut soon. Initial teasers suggest nxtQ’s first prodcut will target the budget segment, a fiercely competitive but voluminous category in the country. It will run on an operating system called “NxtQuantum OS.”
The nature of NxtQuantum OS remains shrouded in mystery. It could be a modified version of Android or something completely different. A teaser message for the brand says, “Made to move across borders, pockets and lives. India Se. Sabke Liye,” which means “From India. For Everyone.”

While Sheth’s precise role within nxtQ is yet to be officially clarified, his involvement adds another dimension to his rapidly expanding segment. He currently serves as a co-founder at HTech (Honor India) and acts as an independent consultant for Alcatel, under the Nxtcell India banner.
We expect to hear more news from Madhav Sheth or one of his associated brands later this month. Both Alcatel (Nxtcell India) and HTech (Honor) are preparing to announce new products.
