Co-founder and chief executive officer of HTech India, Madhav Sheth, has joined Nxtcell India to spearhead the launch of Alcatel smartphones in India. Though the former Realme India CEO won’t leave his current role at Htech, he’s come on board at Nxtcell as a director and a shareholder.
Nxtcell To Launch Alcatel Smartphones In India Under Sheth’s Leadership
For those catching up, Nxtcell holds the license to the Alcatel brand, which is licensed by TCL Communications, a subsidiary of Nokia. Under Sheth’s leadership, the company could launch several Alcatel smartphones in India.
In a post on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Sheth writes that he will work with the Alcatel team to facilitate technology transfer, foster patent-driven innovation, and ensure that its local manufacturing benefits the Indian tech ecosystem.

Alcatel Will Sell Its Smartphones Via Flipkart
Most recently, Alcatel announced its return to the Indian market, introducing a range of new devices, starting with smartphones. The company partnered with the e-commerce platform Flipkart to sell its devices online. Given that Sheth has confirmed his role in Nxtcell India, it looks like an Alcatel smartphone launch is right around the corner.
It is worth mentioning that Sheth isn’t leaving his role as co-founder and CEO of HTech India, a company formed in 2023 to revive Honor’s Indian operations. He will continue to oversee HTech’s operations while streamlining everything for Alcatel’s launch in India.

HTech India Doesn’t Have Any Role In Alcatel’s Smartphone Launch
Sheth has also clarified that HTech India does not have a role in Alcatel’s smartphone launch. In fact, the company is gearing up to launch five Honor devices in the country, including the Honor X and Magic series handsets.
However, it’s no secret that Honor is struggling to gain traction in the Indian market. Reports suggest that HTech is undergoing a massive restructuring, leading to mass layoffs and sluggish operations. Even so, the company is working to optimize its business and make a roadmap for the next two years.

Acer Also Re-Entered The Indian Smartphone Market Recently
Most recently, we also saw Acer return to the Indian smartphone market with the Acer Super ZX and the Super ZX Pro, priced at Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 17,990, respectively. In a market where brands like Nokia and Honor have struggled, how the audience responds to brands like Alcatel and Acer re-entering remains to be seen.
