New Nokia’s first flagship is here – the Nokia 8. After starring in a number of leaks and rumors HMD Global took the wraps off from the Nokia 8 at an event in London on August 16. The phone set to compete with the who’s who of the mobile industry as it boasts off premium design, top of the line specifications, and Carl Zeiss optics.

Nokia 8 Features

The first Nokia branded Android flagship device design is not as alluring as the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8, LG G6 and Apple iPhone 7. The Nokia 8 flaunts a 2.5D glass fascia, a metal body made of 6000 series aluminum which is given a polished mirror finish. Having said that, the bezel size and capacitive keys at the bottom seems to me bit of a turn-off. It does come with a fingerprint sensor embedded home button.

The phone houses volume keys and power button both on the right edge while the 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top edge. A USB Type-C port and loudspeakers are placed on the bottom edge.

What’s really interesting about the Nokia 8 is the hardware that company manages to put together for its first ever flagship device. The phone feature a 5.3-inch QHD AMOLED display (2560 x 1440) with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under its hood rocks a  Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset which is aided by Adreno 540 GPU and 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It comes with of 128GB/64GB UFS2.1 internal storage with hybrid sim slot for media expansion. The dual-SIM phone also includes dual 13-megapixels Carl Zeiss optics where the secondary sensor is a monochrome one used for better low light photography and depth sensing. There is a 13-megapixel selfie camera on the front as well.

Another highlight of the phone is the integration of Nokia futuristic Ozo Audio technology. With this hi tech, users will be able to capture 360-degree audio in their videos.
