Nokia phones coming to India was inevitable and it was only a question of when. After presenting its array of globally relevant phones at MWC 2017, Nokia has outed its specific India plans as well. HMD Globals VP Ajey Mehta, revealed that Nokia phones will launch in India in June 2017.

He further cast some light on the India strategy by divulging that Nokia’s Android phones will be available in both online as well as offline retail stores. Meanwhile, the company is establishing its after sales and service network across the length and breadth of the country.

That’s not all, the Nokia phones that will go on sale in India will also be assembled In India. So, making in India will definitely help reduce the overall retail price, but since Nokia is targeting offline space, you shouldn’t expect disruptive pricing.

Besides, since manufacturing in India is still in its nascent stages, we are doubtful if the metal unibody design phones like Nokia 6 would be made in India at all. One thing is clear, though. Nokia will be targeting budget smartphone space and isn’t likely to launch any premium phones in India anytime soon.
