New LG Velvet teaser confirms official launch on May 7

Leaks and speculations regarding LG Velvet, an upcoming mid-range phone, have been doing the rounds. To build on the hype, the company has released a video on YouTube & Korean Facebook page teasing the LG Velvet. Since the last few mobile phones from the South Korean company giant have failed to cast a lasting impression on consumers, LG is now adopting a new, and we’d say better, marketing approach.

The new video is pivoted around the design of LG Velvet and confirms the May 7 launch date. The online launch event will be streamed on LG’s official & social platforms starting 6:30 PM IST.

The teaser video features four multicolor raindrops depicting the triple camera setup with a flash and four upcoming color variants. The previous video had showcased some key design highlights. The rear panel is crafted with glass material for a flickering look. The thin-bezel designed display will house a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. The premium LG Velvet is said to exhibit curved edges.

The company also revealed earlier that LG Velvet will be powered with a Snapdragon 765G processor, thus enabling the device to support 5G connectivity. The consumers might get a wide color option ranging from Black, Green, Red, and White.

We are speculating LG Velvet to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor under its 6.7-inch or 6.9-inch panel. Going by the trend, LG is expected to use a high-resolution camera sensor and at least 4000mAh battery.

The pricing of LG Velvet is debatable and it will be interesting to see how much it’d cost in markets like India. Seeing the COVID-19 global situation, the device is unlikely to hit retail shelves until mid-May.
