LG has taken the veil off its brand new smartphone – Velvet. LG had been teasing it for weeks now and is said to be a replacement for the G series. But unlike the flagship G-lineup, this one is a mid-ranger, at least by its specs. The underlying Snapdragon 765G makes the point.

Let’s see what it brings to the table.

LG Velvet Highlights

On the front, you get a 6.8-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with curved edges on both sides. There is a slim yet visible forehead with a U-shaped notch, which is home to a 16MP selfie shooter.

Flip and at its back, you’ll find the so-called ‘waterdrop’ camera panel. The incumbents are a 48MP primary sensor (with OIS support), an 8MP ultrawide snapper, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Inside, you have the aforementioned Snapdragon 765G chip coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage. The latter is expandable up to 1TB using a micro SD card. There is Android 10 software with the proprietary skin layered on top. O yeah, the phone’s 5G-capable.

LG Velvet draws from a 4,300mAh battery that’s bolstered by a 10W wireless charger. This has to be the real-standout feature considering its a mid-range phone.

Amongst other things, you also get stuff like a Stylus, Voice-out Focus, ASMR Recording, IP68 water & dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C socket, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

LG Velvet has been launched at KRW 899,800 (approx Rs. 55,800) in South Korea.
