Italian luxury automobile company Maserati has formally entered the Indian automobile market with the launch of the Grecale SUV. Established under the Levante model, the Grecale has been presented for the global market from 2022 and is now set to debut in the Indian market. To back up this launch, Maserati has expanded its dealerships and currently has 3 dealers out of which one is in Mumbai, one in Delhi and one in Bangalore. Ordering for the Grecale is possible from now; there are also upcoming all-electric model, Grecale Folgore.

The Grecale comes in three variants: GT, Modena, and Trofeo are the cars that have been developed by Maserati. The GT and Modena variants are driven by an all-new 2.0-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine through the two, generating power of 300bhp and 330bhp respectively. While the Trofeo is a high-performance model that comes with the Nettuno V6 engine borrowed from the MC20, it offers 530bhp of power and 620Nm of torque, with 0-100 kmph taking just 3.8 seconds. There are standard features: ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, air suspension, electronic limited-slip differential, VDCM active chassis control, and advanced noise insulation Systems are included in all models.

The Grecale is constructed on FCA’s Giorgio architecture that underpins the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is 4,846mm long, 1,948mm wide and 1,670mm tall with a 2,901mm wheelbase. It has an exterior and interior that are in line with current generation Maserati cars and has a boot space of up to 580 litres. In the interior, to provide comfort for five passengers the five-seater SUV is equipped with a head-up display, a 12.3-inch all-digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen, and an 8.8-inch digital screen below the lower dashboard. Inside it has got genuine wood finishing, carbon fiber, and aluminum accents and also the car has got an empowered 1200-watt 21 speaker 3D audio system.

Maserati car accessories and bespoke choices will also be offered to the Indian customers. The Grecale’s market entry is timely as the Indian market is experiencing a rise in the number of the relatively wealthy population as well as has a good history with luxury cars. While Maserati has no operational control in India it rely on the support from Stellantis conglomerate where it operates. In conclusion, the arrival of the Grecale SUV in the Indian market demonstrates Maserati’s plans for its growth strategy and its attention to the needs of wealthy clients who expect exclusivity and power in their automobiles.
